I took these pictures at the Corvette Museum a couple years ago.
Fugly wheels that thankfully never made it to production.
I snuck behind the ropes to catch a shot of it's Vin number. Now you know there were at least 22 made before it..
From WikiPedia
The fourth generation Corvette was the first all-new Corvette since 1963. Production was to begin for the 1983 model year but quality issues and part delays resulted in only 44 1983 model prototypes being produced which were never sold. All of the 1983 prototypes were destroyed except one with a white exterior, medium blue interior, L83 350ci, 205HP V8, and 4-speed automatic transmission. After extensive testing and modifications were completed, it was initially retired as a display sitting in a external wall over the Bowling Green Assembly Plant's employee entrance. Later this only surviving 1983 prototype was removed, restored and is now on public display at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It is still owned by GM.
We enthusiasts on the forum are in fact the MINORITY. For every one of us, there are probably 50 other fellow owners who just think of it as a car.
At last; an intelligent observation. I'm as enthusiastic about my Corvette as I want to be and if I feel enthusiastic enough to need to know something about my car, I find it on this forum. I just hope I don't shock anybody when I ask a question that displays my lack of vettespeak.
The F-body motor is the same, it even puts more power to the ground due to the solid axle. You learn something new everyday. Granted its not a Vette but its just as fun to drive.
Are you being serious? The motors are both called LS1, but there are differences. Throttle body, cam, exhaust manifolds are a few differences that I can think of. They are very similar though. Of course, the LS1 in the Vette has even had it's differences over the years.
LOL,I have had guys in the local corvette club show me their ZO6 coupes! (targas)
We do have 2 Z06 in our club with removeable top. One is an 07 C6 Z06 converted by Guldstran and the other one is a 03 C5 Z06 converted by a company in Canada (forgot the name ).
Years ago I was a repoe man and had the opertunity to drive a couple vettes. One was a 63 the a 67.I didn't know much about vettes other than the fact that I loved the look and awys wanted one. When I finally got one. a 2001 vert, I found out that I didn't know squat about them. They are not a car, they are a beautiful well engineered piece of machinery that has to be well maintained and like other members here on this forum I really appreciate the all the info that members give to us who need the help and get us up to speed about corvettes. I love my vette
I have seen a few post in this topic about how dumb people are because they say they have a 2003 Corvette Anniversary editon. Maybe when you meet these people, instead of thinking that they must be the dumbest person alive, stop and think. First off many of these are first time Corvette owners. They have possibly always dreamed of driving the Great American Sports Car, and they have reached that point in their lives where they can own one. In reality all 2003 Corvette's are an anniversary cars, not the special anniversary package, but still an anniversary. Don't forget all 2003 Corvette's came with the 50th Anniversary front and rear emblems as well as it was on the key blanks and on the Owners Manual. The coupes and convertibles also had the 50th anniversary emblem on the tech and speedometer. So I would say they all have a 50th anniversary car, just not the special package.
Having an 03 EB Coupe, I correct folks when they ask if mine is the Anniversary Edition by telling them that its the Anniversary year and that the AE models come only in a maroon color with gold tinted rims w/all tan interiors.
Also, have a neighbor who owns an 01 and asked me if mine was a C6 because it didn't have the BSM's.

That second part is hilarious
I had talked to this guy selling this 86 or 87 Corvette at the 2010 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals tell me it was completely stock, including the Grandsport stripe kit and hood side badges
UHHHHH---NO, try again
The wheels were on the wrong side too, what a goof, don't exactly keep the brakes cool when the fins are facing the wrong way.
And yea I hear people saying they have a 03 anniversary car. When I ask them what color it is, there answer is never right... I just nod my head and agree.
I love going to a dealership and listening to the dealers talk about the car's/vettes they sell. I love correcting them in front of other people. It amuses me I guess...
Toque
You should have heard the line of B.S. a BMW salesman tried to lay on me when I stopped to look at an '05 Coupe they had sitting on their used lot. It was about the most stripped down, base model C6 I have ever seen. If crank windows had been an option this car would have had them. I pulled up the RPO codes on my phone and compared to what was on the car and it was absolutly the cheapest option available in every case. It did have a K&N cold air intake and aftermarket exhaust along with a kenwood CD player that had been shoehorned into the dash with a IPOD connecter remoted into the center console. The lights all the way around were fogged and the windows were tinted DARK. It was about as close to the overplayed "Murdered out" look as you can get without putting black rims on it.
According to the salesman it was bone stock and had been traded in by a little old lady who decided she needed a BMW so she could haul her grandkids around.
As soon as I looked in the car and saw the aftermarket radio (and crappy install job) and the fact that it didn't have HUD I knew I wasn't interested. I told the guy I didn't want to trade my loaded '04 Vert for a '05 base coupe. His exact response "What options does it not have? I own a Corvette and the only options are coupe, convertable, Z06 and ZR1. This is a coupe, its loaded." I think I said something like, "well, 4 out of 5 isn't bad I guess. Stick to selling BMW's. If someone trades in a Vette with a 3.42 rear axle, HUD and Magnetic Selective Ride Control give me a call." I figure if it has those options its probably going to have everything else I want too...
edit: the 4 out of 5 comment is referencing the fact that he forgot the Grand Sport...
