Harbor Freight Jack Stands
THAT SAID, I like the idea of the safety pins and will retrofit my HF jacks. I love my C5 but not on my chest!! This is a belt and suspenders issue, where we cannot exercise enough care for that one time we make a mistake in a moment of haste.
Appreciate the posts and commentary. Drive safe and work safer.

Thanks.
edit: what length did you use for chock spacing? did you leave any gap or is it tight up againt the tire?
thanks again for the post

2X11X27 each board is 1 7/8" thick
Mine measure 9 3/4" high
The chocks are 1' from each end
Inside dimemsion of the chocks are 8 3/4"
When I made mine, I laid 1 board beside the tire and placed the chocks to the wheel (front & rear of tire) and marked the measurements accordingly. There is no play between the chocks so there is no movement. If I use them on the rear, I jack it up and slide the cribs under the rear wheels, let the jack down & roll the jack out. I chock the front with steel chocks for safety. Once I forgot to do that and raised up the rear and there was no problem, no movement at all.
If I use all 4 cribs, I drive up on my DIY ramps (old pic below), then jack up the front, then remove ramps, insert cribs. Then jack up the rear & place cribs. Totally solid. My wife used to be terrified when I used jack stands, used to check on me every few minutes. Now she seems to be at ease when I use the cribs. Years ago, I had my tahoe fall from one jack stand, luckily, I wasn't under it. It had been on the stands for over 2 hours, and jsut fell. The ratchet edge just let go. After that, I made the cribs. Now I don't even think about it falling. I don't have any extra body parts lying around & what I have I plan to keep for a while longer. If you need any more details, will try to help as much as I can. Oh, I have chocks on my ramp and my ramps are in steps so I can just count the step as I go up. And the ramp is 11" wide so I don't worry about running off.
This is a pic when I first made them, since then, they are longer with a more gradual incline. Work great.
