Default Import side markers

I found a set of new yellow side markers GM#5978259 when I was cleaning up the basement and just like to know are they hard to find now like so many C5 parts

They might be rare-the only side markers I've ever seen on C5's are red.

Do you mean front corner lights?

I believe those are for Europe and question if they are legal in the US.

I've got a pair of Euro Amber's on my Black Vette and looks great with my Red/Amber Euro tail lights.

I know they are illegal in Florida. Check your local state regulations website. My Florida link is below for reference. I encourage all owners who consider modifying lights, etc. to review their local state regulations. It's interesting reading...

The DOT requires all passenger cars to have front amber markers and red rear markers and I believe that is the law for all states, however most cops aren't going to bother you let alone even notice the difference. I installed clear front corners about nine months ago and have had no problems at all. If you like the look then go for it, most likely you won't have any problems.

I have friends who are cops (and own Corvettes) and believe me, they do notice. However, they choose discretion because they like the idea of having an excuse to pull over a car when they decide to...

...like between midnight and 4AM on the weekend.

If they find you're "borracho"when they pull you over for the lights, then it probably is.

A friend of mine had blue tag lights on the back of his car and he got pulled over and given a warning for them.

That's up to the owner/operator of the vehicle. It just an excuse to pull them over. After that, it's up to him if he's a boy scout or not.

They may notice during the day but no way they can tell at night if you have the appropriate colored lights in there.

I've got clear rear side markers and at night you cannot tell with the red bulbs.

They are not hard to find and surprisingly they are significantly less expensive than the clear ones. I have no idea why.

No idea how rare they are, but I've never seen any on a C5 in the states. I'd think they would be illegal.

They're European rear side markers and I have them fitted to my car. I must admit I thought they were a stock GM part.

Under EU rules its illegal to show a red light other than at the rear of the car. They solve that problem. Wouldn't it be great if they could agree international standards?

I ran them in Vegas without a problem. It would be a very pedantic LEO who pulled you over for those unless he was down on his monthly stats I'd say.

Granted its only Wikipedia but this is what it says:

Sidemarker lights and reflectors
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 in Germany with amber rear sidemarker

In North America, amber front and red rear sidemarker lamps and retro-reflectors are required. The law initially required lights or retroreflectors on vehicles made after 1 January 1968. This was amended to require lights and retroreflectors on vehicles made after 1 January 1970.[29] These side-facing devices make the vehicle's presence, position and direction of travel clearly visible from oblique angles.[29] The lights are wired so as to illuminate whenever the vehicles' parking and taillamps are on, including when the headlamps are being used.[5] Front amber sidemarkers in North America may or may not be wired so as to flash in sync with the turn signals.[30] Sidemarkers are permitted outside North America, but not required. If installed, they are required to be brighter and visible through a larger horizontal angle than US sidemarkers, they may not flash, and they must be amber at the front and rear unless the rear sidemarker is incorporated into the main rear lamp cluster, in which case it may be red or amber.[15] Some Japanese, European, British and US-brand vehicles have sidemarkers in Europe and other countries where they are not required.

Japan's recent accession to internationalised ECE Regulations has caused automakers to change the rear sidemarker colour from red to amber on their models so equipped in the Japanese market
