Mine is a 99 so I guess I better find a way to disable the airbag.

You might want to check your state laws about car seats for infants and older kids. I think most recommend rear facing until one year old. In VA, you're supposed to use a booster seat until 80lbs or 8 years old IIRC. I know my daughter won't let my grand-daughter ride with me in the Vette for another year and a half.

Both rear facing and front facing seats work just fine in the Vette. I used the "carry around" type seat when my daughter was less than 25 lbs and younger, and put it in rear facing just using the seat belt. Then when she got to 25 lbs and older, I now use a forward facing regular car seat (Britax Marathon 70 - same one BenC5 shows in his pic). The Britax can also be put in rear facing and fits just fine.

One tip I learned which works well is to lower your car seat all the way, then strap in the car seat using the seat belt (be sure to pull all the way out so it ratchets back), then raise the seat - it will pull up very tight.

Also FYI... the latest safety recommendations are that children stay rear facing until they are two. I personally think that is overkill, but some parents will be overprotective. Just my opinion, don't shoot me.

Do a search on AOI electrical here on the forum. They sell a kit. It is very simple to install, but some places do not want the liability risk and will not install. AOI will point you to a local (as local as possible) dealer that would do the install. make sure you change out the passenger seatbelt to one that will work with a car seat.

Good Luck and congrats on fatherhood!

Make sure to turn off the air bags, and be careful of course.
Turn the baby seat backwards till the baby is 1yr old.

Good luck with the lady friend and the new baby once she has it !

I have been taking my son for cruises in my Z06 since he was born !

Back when he was born (6 months after I got my 04 Z06).

He is 6 yrs old now and growing like a weed !

Ok, here's some more pics for ya. This is using a Chicco Keyfit system. Basically, there's a base that you mount in car using your seatbelt (just like any other car seat). Then the carry seat just clips in quick and easy. The seat can be quickly removed and easily clipped into another vehicle, with a base already in it, or it can be clipped into the associated stroller - all with never having to remove the kid, which is nice when they are younger and asleep.

In this pic my daughter is 21 months and 25 lbs. It's time to move her up to a different seat. She been riding in this since she was born.

Before she started walking, I didnt' use the base. I just used the carry seat and secured it in the car via the seatbelt, which is also quick and easy. I did this because I would take her to day care in the morning and just carry her, in the seat, into the building. Then mom would pick her up in the afternoon, put her in the seat, carry the whole package out to her car and clip into the base in her car.

Now mom has a regular car seat in her vehicle and I have a Chicco base in my vette and my truck. The weather and other factors dictates which vehicle I drive, so it's quick and easy to move this seat between the two.

Congrats on the baby! I suggest registering (hey, guys should get crap at baby showers too!) for one of those really cool race-inspired recaro baby seats with the padded, anti-slip bottom feet that don't mess up your leather. My sister-in-law got one for her first son when she had a Mercedes. I've been waiting until they won't notice to swipe it from their garage since their boys have outgrown it.

I think this will work too. I plan to get one. Also gives a place to put crap.

I take my 4 year old son for rides in the Vette all the time and I do admit I sometimes get odd stares from moms in minivans, especially when I drop him off to preschool in the Vette but they can kiss my a$$ cause it took my wife and I 17 years to have him and I'm gonna enjoy every minute. Just use a good safety seat and make sure that it is properly installed and make sure to shut off the air bag. Drive safe and you and your little buddy will have some great quality time together! Congratulations and all the best bro!

If you have a 99 you can not turn off the passenger airbag. This
means you could not put a child in the car.

I've always wondered how guys drove sports cars around with their kids in the cars. It's pretty cool to see that you guys take your kids with you in your Corvettes.
