hi guys today my c5 stopped and i needed to call AAA to tow me. everything was fine. i just went to the grocery store to buy some stuff and when i came back, my car wouldn't start. when i turned the key, my engine stalled and it was acting like it was about to start, but it wouldn't. im getting messages on my DIC computer: reduce engine power, service ABS, service traction system. please, can anyone help me with this problem?
thanks,
tony
I had just cleaned the filter in the Vararam. I THOUGHT I was careful, but I didn't snap the connector to the MAF on completely. After about 10 miles it poped off and I got all the same symptoms. Snapped it in place correctly and everything was fine.
Yeah, MAF might be a problem. If it starts vert rough it will be the connection to your MAF. The MAF cable is before your throtle body right in your air-bridge.

i checked my air hose and they are fine. I would like to know what is the MAF.... it seems to me like I can't hear my gas pump. It makes a short bzz, and then nothing, as if something had cut it off. I posted on the first post, the messages that I was getting on my DIC. Please guys, i really need help.
I want you to ask to move this thread to the Tech section where Bill Curlee will see it or send him a PM with those codes. This is a much more serious issue with the PCM. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking you've got battery acid corrosion issues on the PCM so you might want to look under the battery. To access the PCM, you need to remove the right fender-well and of course the wheel to get to the fender-well....but please get a hold of Bill.
The P601 usually means a dead PCM. Its possible the TAC module could be causing this but unless you are skilled in these matters, time for a Tech2 and/or the dealer...along with some cash. Is this a '98? Never mind, I looked in your profile and saw that it is. '98's have this issue and it probably is toast...not positive mind you but be prepared.

First thing I would check is the battery, Make sure it has a full charge. Just a guess and starting point.
Mr.Bill
Also make sure the grounds are clean and tight there's one in the engine bay of the drivers side right inboard of the wheel and bolts into the Chassis.
