I will know the results next week.
We're not talking about WS6 Wheels are we? I had a ws6 as well and and the base model C5 brakes barely cleared the wheels. The Base C5 brakes are 12.8" in diameter. The Z51 spec are 13.4 and WILL NOT clear the C5Z wheels. They will bolt up but the ID of the wheel scrapes on the caliper. I Highly doubt the WS6 wheels would clear either. I believe you have your facts wrong. You have base model C5 brakes on your WS6 with a diameter of 12.8 not the larger Z51.

Just do us a favor. Test fit your factory C5Z wheels ON THE CAR with your C6Z brakes and then come back and tell us how well it works. I have a feeling I know what the outcome is going to be.

BTW your off the car mock up works due to the fact that you do not have the rotor and caliper centered as an assembly. I could take ZR1 brakes and drop them in a C5Z 17 and if I had no clue as to what I was doing I would think I had a useable set up too.

C5Z 18" with C6Z Brakes. You don't see a lot of room to spare do you???

Not much room for the 12.8" C5 Brakes to fit in that WS6 17 is there?? Wonder how the larger Z51 Brakes will fit??

Oh and check out the Trans Am emblems I had made on the Water Jet. Polished Stainless Steel, powder coated the calipers black and cleared over that and the emblems. Sweet yah? Oh and these same calipers with the Z51 rotors and abutment brackets will not fit. Just saying.

First of you got your facts wrong. I took the factory 17 inch rims off a 1998 WS6 and test fit them on a z51 c6 corvette. Its works just fine.

My question to you is, Have you tried the c5 z05 17's on the front of your car?

OK I'll give you that one. Maybe there are slight variations with the wheels 98 vs the 2001 that I had. My experience says there is no room to run those brakes on a 17 inch wheel.

My question to you is this: DID YOU LOOK AT THE PIC OF MY C6Z BRAKES???? DOES IT LOOK LIKE IT HAS .5" TO SPARE BETWEEN THE CALIPER AND THE WHEEL???????? NO SIR IT DOES NOT.

FURTHER MORE I INSTALLED THE 17" C5Z WHEELS ON A SMALLER BRAKE SET UP, THE Z51 SET UP, AND IT SCRAPED THE WHEEL SO WHY IN THE HELL WOULD I EVEN ATEMPT TO INSTALL THE 17" WHEEL ON A MUCH LARGER BRAKE SET UP?????

I installed my c6z brakes today and tried the 17's on and they fit perfect. J/K Not really the 17's hit the top of the caliper right before the spokes. It may work with a spacer, but now I have an excuse to sell the wheels that came on the c5z06 and get new ones...

You were right speedyhawk101, I was wrong...

Hi,

Quick question, where did you get the GS stripes, yours are matte black, all I've been able to find have been gloss black. I have a black 03' Z. I'd like to do a brake install as you did, your car looks great.

thanks for any help
