I believe they are not. IMO repo's are not the way to go if you're at all interested in performance. They are HEAVY. Also with going to a C6Z brake set up you are already adding considerable rotating and unsprung mass.
I didn't use repos when I did mine. I ended up finding two sets of rear Alcoa's for a good price. I like the thinner spoke better, and thought that the Forged Aluminum wheel would be easier to widen. The speedline wheels are spun cast and my experience with any type of casting is that they are a pain to weld. OK needless rant over.
I got some 18x10.5 in the front rear now...
295/35/18 front tire
305/35/18 rear tire
The fronts stick out beyond the fenders. I think once its lowered it will look better. The front of the car is taller too. Prob since I went from a 17 to 18 & the car has not really "settled" yet...
Here are some pics...
Is there some kind of solution to help with this tire poking out... Maybe a 285/35/18 would look better.
You other guys that put the 18x10.5, does lowering it help the appearance.
I wonder if this wheel in a 18x9.5 will clear those c6z06 brake system...
Does anyone know???
The width of the rim has little or nothing to do with the wheel clearing the brakes. The 18" diameter, which we already know will clear, and how the offset -That is how far off of center the mount pad of the wheel is - affects the distance to the back of the spokes from the mount pad. If you change the width of the rim by the 1" you mention but only take that material off of the inside lip of the rim you are effectively moving the center of the wheel and therefore the offset value will change. The wheel will stick out though because the outside lip of the rim hasn't moved, and it will still clear the breaks. However, if you narrow the wheel equally on the outer lip and inner lip by .5" then the center of the wheel will stay the same and as long as the offset value is the same the clearance to the back of the spokes should be the same. That being said, through speedyhawk's experience, he has found that there is not enough material on the outside lip of the rim to narrow the factory 18X10.5 wheel there.
Now so far I have only talked about modifying the factory original 18X10.5 rear wheel. If you are referring to getting a reproduction wheel in a 18X9.5 size with different offset numbers and different spoke thicknesses then I'm sorry but all bets are off. Call the manufacture. The dimensions you will need to know are: The distance from the back of the spokes to the mount pad of the wheel. And the distance from the face of the brake rotor where the wheel mounts to the face of the brake caliper when mounted on the car. Also, not all 18" diameter wheels will clear these brakes, so with a repro wheel, you'll have to check that as well.
To the best of my knowlege C6Z06 Brakes will not fit under any 17" wheel currently on the market for the C5. And I doubt one could be custom made to fit either.
The C6Z brakes WILL NOT FIT UNDER THE 17 INCH WHEEL. Plus going 18 front and rear opens you up for way more tire options (not so much the case with the 18x10.5 f&r but whatevs).
The calipers are side specific. The bleeder valves need to face up otherwise you wont be able to bleed the brakes! plus I dont think the mounting points would allow one to mount the right on the left etc...
Have you tried to put the 17 inch rim onover the big brakes? I did a mock up and my c5 z06 speedlines 17's fit over the c6z06 brake caliper and rotor... Put a spacer on it and I think its good to go.
This was a mock up only. Have not installed my c6 z06 brakes on my c5 z06 yet to know for sure if the 17's will work or not.

If you have the parts to put on then put them on and see. I am however 99.9999999999% sure that the 17" wheels will NOT go over the C6Z06 Brakes. These parts have been floating around for quite some time now. And several people have them on their C5s, and ALL of those that utilize the factory wheels of the C5 are running the Rear 18" wheels all around. I'm guessing there is a reason for that.
But the rotor and caliper fit inside the wheel.
I am wondering if any of those people have tried their 17's on their c6 z06 brake equiped cars. I will try it.
People usually do what others suggest and if they say the 17's wont work most everybody wont try.
I did a mock up and the brakes cleared the 17 inch wheel. Now to say if that will work on the vehicle is a different story. I do not know. Next week I will know for sure if it will work. I have the 18x10.5 all the way around as well, im waiting for one caliper to be shipped to me then the kit is getting installed.
007DUC do you have this brake kit on your c5 z06? And have you tried to fit the stock wheel on? Or is this just a theory that it will not work?
I would try to find a 18/19 C6Z factory wheels since the 18x10.5 rears already stick out up front. I'm not a fan of running the incorrect wheel offset, but.... it does look better will all 18" wheels.
The 18" Barely Fit. THE 17" will NOT fit the C6Z Brakes.
The 17" would not even clear the Z51 spec set up I ran before going to the C6Z set up.
This is not true, I ran 17inch wheels all the way around on my ws6 with the z51 brake rotor upgrades.
The c6z06 14 inch rotor clears the c5z06 front 17's as does the c6z06 caliper on my mock up.
I will know the results next week.
