call me a worry-wart, but i've seen [and known] too many tow truck drivers that i wouldn't want touching my car. let alone the guy that you may be trusting to pop your tire off of that beautiful rim. at least with the run-flats i have a little leeway to find a place that i trust. that is the root of my turmoil.
again, it is why i have insurance, it is just a car and anything can be fixed. worry less, drive more
What size tires are you using? I just bought a set of Hankook from the same place. 18" front were about 190.00 each and 19" back were about 240.00. How did you get such a great price?

I would guess stock tire sizes - 17" front, 18" rear are where the savings are. I know when I bought my V12's earlier this year, the prices climbed higher when you opted to go bigger than stock rubber.
I just got a set of Hankook V12's all the way around. This weekend was the first time a used them. On a freeway on-ramp, I accelerated hard and didn't get any rear wheel-spin. Performance wise, I think they're a great value for the money. One comment though I will make is they have a different profile in that my earlier ties bulged out where these (which are the same size) don't bulge out... if that makes any sense. I have been thinking of starting a separate thread about this with pictures to explain this better.
Don't have my Z yet (Soon!) but I've been running these for over a year on my M3. C&D did an 8 tire review all vs the PS2 in '09 IIRC and these came in near the top in all tests, but were by far the least expensive. I run 245/40/17 up front, 255/40/17 rear, just replaced my fronts with a new Pair. Got 27K out of them, not bad considering I run a 70m daily commute and -2.6 camber up front.
C5's are around the same weight as my M3 and carry a lot more tire and usually less camber. (I run -1.5 in the rear) I would expect great life out them depending on your foot. I find they are much stickier then any of the past brands I've tried, and work great in the wet, and are quiet. I expect I'll be putting on my Z soon as well!
Is anyone tracking their car (C6) with these tires? I have just worn out another set of RE11s and am looking at alternatives ($$$). I run 265/35x18 and 305/30x19. I usually put about 300-400 easy miles on them doing street driving and then keep them as dedicated track tires. Any review of using them on the track would be helpful
Has anyone put some miles on these tires by now and have some observations to share ?
Dave
I have these tires on my '10 Genesis Coupe. I've put around 10k miles on them and the tread is still looking brand new.. that's with some donuts and burnouts, 2 trips to the track, and 99% highway miles. They are a tad loud, but grip very well. The only issue I've had was one of the tires is defective and it causes a really bad tracking issue on the highway. I tried replacing the fronts, got the car re-aligned, and rebalanced and just gave up throwing money at it. But that could happen with any tire.
I just purchased a set of Hankook V12's and a set of wheels, so now we have both the Michelin run flats and the Hankook tires. I plan on running the Hankooks in town, and if I go out of state, put on the run flats. I will put a scissor jack, hocky puck, 12 volt compressor, and flat kit in the car, just in case.
Total price for our Hankooks, mounted and balanced was $735 , with a $80 Hankook rebate that we have not received yet.
We have Good Sams, and AAA, but will only use them if we have to. I might add some plastic "lego" style blocks ala the type we use for our 5th wheel, for added height for the jack. They are light, and don't take up much room. All of this will fit in our compartment in the back of the coupe.

I will be replacing my GYRF tires this year. My problem is that I want the security of the runflats but I haven't found a tire that looks as good as the OEM tire. The Michelin RF's have had rave reviews but the footprint is all wrong, they look small and rounded. The GY's are just so damn expensive.
