Hankook update...

I will be replacing my GYRF tires this year. My problem is that I want the security of the runflats but I haven't found a tire that looks as good as the OEM tire. The Michelin RF's have had rave reviews but the footprint is all wrong, they look small and rounded. The GY's are just so damn expensive.

Tire Rack really jacked up there pricing on the Hankook V12 recently.
I could have swore a few months ago in my size (275/30/19, 305/30/19) were $860.
Now I do a search and they are $1126...
$256 each front, and $307 each rear. Not sure why they are so out of line now...

However... It pays to shop around it seems...

DirectBuyTire has the Hankook V12 tires in the above sizes for $856 for all 4... ($234 rear each, $191 front each).
Onlinetire has has the Hankook V12 tires in the above sizes for $835 for all 4... ($231 rear each, $186 front each).
Later this year I'm likely going to get a set of these. I think I'll burn mine a bit more this summer before getting new tires... .

I noticed that too! They jacked up the prices big time! When I bought my OEM-sized V12 evo's last fall from Tire Rack, they were $556 shipped PLUS a $50 mail-in rebate. Now they are listed @ $744 with NO rebate! I'm guessing that the cheaper prices last year must have been the "introductory" prices, and now after the tires are selling well and getting good reviews, they majorly increased the prices!
Plus I just had to have C6 wheels so it would seem I'm looking at a grand for tires.

My wife and I each have 2002 convertibles I drove her car to pick up mine after the install so my experience was fairly current. About 10 miles both in town and the highway.
So my opinion. So far I love them, they seem incredibly sticky and 100% better as far as a smooth ride. I drive my car hard all of the time and they feel like they hold the corners much better then the original tires.
Only thing I think is worse is the body roll. Seems like the car is not quite as flat as before. I am only running 30 pounds so maybe a little more pressure may help, not sure.
The car seems to be quicker in response when turning. My perception is that the body rolls more and takes a set better, then it just grips better then ever before. Definitely a lot more confidence to the driver when maneuvering.
I will definitely look at these tires in the future.
Got a bit of an attitude from the local sales guy when I declined the run flats at $2,200.00. He had an attitude like I was being a cheapskate. He asked me more then once what I would do if I had a flat. In the last 10 years or so the only flat I remember was on my wife's vette with the run flats. It happened at our shop so I didn't even run with it flat but took it off there and brought it back fixed. For a better tire I will gladly take the flat risk and save over $1,300.00.
Looking forward to getting rid of the runflats.
Free shipping, no taxes!
Mounting should be about 20.00/tire
As far as flats go I bought a compressor from Harbor freight and have a tire plug kit.

Exact same deal here. Delivered last week. Thought I was reading my own post for a minute.
Still working on the paintwork but hope to have it on the road soon. Waiting for my TP sensors to come back & get em mounted on a set of Chrome C6 Gumbys I got here. Also picked up a nice set of spacers for the rear and have new rotors and pads to go on. Can't wait to get this all together and try out the new tires.

As for flats, you carry a quality tire plug tool kit, 12v air pump, and you keep your AAA card in your wallet. You can buy 3+ sets of V12's for the cost of a set of RF's.
I still run 30lb cold on the street and 34/33 lbs hot at the autocross
I ordered a set of std. C5 sizes 245/45/17 and 275/40/18 for $658 - $80 Hankook rebate -$100 Discount Tire gift card = $478 total.
I probably won't mount them till later this summer, but I didn't think I could beat the price.

Well that really sucks!

I didn't even need these yet if I had known. I'm makin a phone call.
Did notice that They want the original receipt as proof for the $100 rebate and at the same time Hankook wants the original receipt for their $80 rebate.

I called and they said sorry they would give a couple days grace but mine was 9 days. I told the guy this really sucks cause I didn't need them and the car is in pieces. Actually I'm waiting to lay the last coat of clear on the frt end pieces as we speak. Oh well, the way this project is going, what's another hundred bucks.

Moral of the story...don't buy anything till you need it....well that could bite you too I guess.

I put mine on 6 months ago and they feel as nice as they were brand new... i put about 350 miles a week on them very happy with the ride and the price.
