I've got (2) 8500X50's, no complaints, and this will work great, just ordered one. Thanks for posting that link.

This is the mount I use for my Escort 8500 x50. Mounts in a perfect spot, the detector easily connects to the mirror for a clean and relatively vibration free mounting point. I had it under the mirror at first, but didn't like the way it vibrated. I'm on my second Escort (traded up from the 8500) and it has saved my butt so many times, I've lost count. Any high end unit will work, Escort, valentine 1, Beltronics. You get what you pay for.

Valentine One for radar detection AND Laser Interceptor for laser protection.

If any laser "detector" goes off, basically it's telling you, that you have been hit and the speed is already recorded. Laser sends and records readings faster than you can blink your eyes.

Thanks
I purchased the Escort 9500xi with the small connector that plugs into the rearview mirror along with the mount that mounts on passnger side below sunvisor from Southern Car Parts. Works great.....

Looks good and I'm sure the mount is light weight but the 8500 added to it seems to be too heavy for the mirrors to me. Plus, the $$$ for a mount is a little on the high side. JMO

Probably will go with the visor mount from Southern Car Parts. Their super suction hasn't worked very well on the Vette windshield (may be the windshield) so back to the drawing board. Maybe they will cut me a deal. They are a top notch company and I have had a great experience buying from them in the past.

After tons of research I got a Beltronics V965 3 years ago. ($150) In all the tests it performed with-in 90% of the much pricier V1 and Escort models. I still pickup Ka 2 miles away, and the Laser pickup has saved me a few times as well. (mount them high as possible to pick up scatter from cars in front of you)

On my M3, I bought I wire set off Ebay and wired it into my Sunroof control. Two small suction cups keep it up. When I turn the key it powers up, and stays powered up till I remove the key and open the door.

Sorry but I will have to dispute this statement on several occasions the laser warning on my V1 has gone off when the LEO was tracking another vehicle.
Last Friday was a perfect example, I was west bound on I-10 and passed a FHP sitting under a bridge facing the center on the east bound side.
About 1 mile past him and around a long curve out of sight of the LEO my rear arrow lit up and the laser warning went off.
It scared the sh*t out of the wife, but like I said there was no way he could even see me so it had to be another vehicle he locked on to.

Agreed, if you get lucky the laser beam will hit the V1 off another vehicle, which will give you time to react.

My example was if you are alone on a highway or the direct target of the laser beam, you're toast.

Its called laser scattering. Another reason you should always have a little bit of traffic around you.

FWIW, that's what made me get the V1. Its a lot more sensitive to laser as opposed to other detectors.

I think Southern Car Parts usually includes the visor bolt mount and invisicord at no charge if you purchase the detector from them. FYI for those who are also looking for a new detector.

Pretty sure thats for the 9500ix because I think Valentine only sells them themselves.

You can make your own "invisacord". Just get a hard wire and run the wires in the pinholes in the back of the mirror. You can get a short hardwire cord at Radio Shack. I did this with my Cobra. Very easy.

Just bought an Escort 8500X50. I almost got a radar/laser shifter to go along with it. Has anybody got one of these "shifters" and is it worth the expensive (for me) price?

Well let me tell you from my experience with them. Im a police officer and sometimes they dont always work to your benefit. If i leave my stationary radar on while im parked then your radar would pick up on that right away. Now most of the time when Im sitting in the cruiser I leave the hand held off and visually clock cars. If the car looks visually to be over the posted limit then I'll use the hand held and clock em. With that being said usually 99.9% of the time its too late. i can push a button and have the vehicles speed locked by the time the radar detector goes off and they react and hit the brakes. Now if I'm clocking another vehicle 1/4 mile ahead of you most detectors pick up on that and you have fare warning but if someone is the only car on the road then most of the time they dont come in handy. There nice to have but some states their illegal espically in semi's. But semi drivers dont need radar detectors. One semi sees you they all see you. Just best to do the speed limit. I've seen some horrible accidents where people would of made it if they were doing the limit. Its best to get somewhere 3 mins late...then not at all.

This is true, they are warning devices and are most affective when a LEO is "checking" a car ahead of you which alerts you of his/her presence and allows you to slow down, but is not a free pass to speed.

I agree with this second part but I've found that where I drive it is far more dangerous to do the speed limit as you will be run off the road. I drive with the speed of traffic and when I hear that nice little chirp I simply slow down because I know the odds are that the Corvette will be the one picked out of the herd.

To the OP I have an Escort and no complaints

Also I use the Blendmount to mount it to the mirror and wire it to the mirror which gives it a nice and clean look.

Besides, it makes it harder for him to get his monthly quota of tickets. Not enough tickets = not enough money for the city coffers. Can't get promoted, loses his job, his wife and kids leave, the vette gets repo'd, etc. Goverment sponsered highway robbers.

I buy and sell radars and I personally use a V1. Love it, although I haven't tried the 9500ix. My brother has the 95 and loves it, he use to have a V1 too. What he says he really likes about the 95 is you can put in false alarms so it doesn't go off at those spots anymore.

Highway robbery? It's called rules. If you don't like them write to your governor and tell him its just so unfair that you live in the greatest country on earth and " highway robbers" make you follow the rules. Just love when people attack others for what they do for a living. I served in the marine corps to got something to negative to say about that too?
