Default Radar Detectors

Read many comments on radar detectors.
That said, for highway speeds only, 55 and above, what brand, model will work best?
Thanks

There are two makes that most users prefer:

Valentine One

Escort Products:
9500xi
9500i
8500 X50

You will find strong opinions on both sides

Ive always had Cobra. With the higher end ones ive found theyre equal to Escort at a slightly lower cost.

I have seen those. I'm a little concerned about the weight on the mirror. I used to suction mount that came with it. It would turn loose so I bought one with the big suction cup. It falls off too! Got to find something else I guess.

Just ordered a V1 today. Cant wait to try it out!

I bought the V1 for a few reasons...
1) The arrows
2) I have heard from numerous sources that it is the most sensitive to all bands, especially laser.
3) I dont need the speed camera/red light database because my state doesnt have speed cameras and I dont run red lights haha.

Initially i was a little concerned about extra weight on the mirror, however i have heard and read that they are actually pretty light.

Also, i have seen dash mounts...definitely not gonna use stick-um on my interior...

DO NOT buy the k40. It's junk. I paid 900 for the bluetooth with laser jammer and it was complete junk. Sold it for half the price and bought an Escort 8500x used for 100 bux. What a difference. Last weekend my gf and I were going to San Francisco. Cops all over the place, Ka band was going nuts. As the sun was setting the Escort suddenly goes beserk with a warning I have never heard before. Cop was hiding behind a bridge with a laser. She was going like 82, immediately slammed on the brakes because the warning was so intense. I wonder what the cop thought lol. Didn't get pulled over though so I was very satisfied with it after the trip.

I got this one:

It mounts right up to the passenger visor bolt. Works perfect.

I have been using a Beltronics RX65 Professional on my Goldwing for the last couple of years and have been very happy with it. The Beltronics seem to score well in reviews and shootouts.

I did a 48 state ride in 10 days last year (occasionally over the posted speeds ) and it saved my bacon and wallet many times. I am looking for a good mount for my new to me 99 'vert.

YMMV

Try this one. It is the best mount out there. I use it with my 9500ix. It is super high quality and weighs very little. You can adjust the radar detector up/down and change angle and move it forward or rearward. Fits under mirror very nicely.

Same one I use on my 9500ix and I love it. The suction cups suck, pardon the pun. Anytime my car got hot the darn detector would be lying on the floor.

Here is a great article. You will see that they are very close in detection, some are better in different areas then others but all close.

After reading this, I am leaning toward the Escort 9500ix, I like the GPS for memorizing grocery stores and the red light information. Not that I would ever run a red light, but when you have that choice to speed up or slow down when it turns yellow, I seldom choose to slow down.

Quick read but good information.
