To the OP, I do get the same feeling, but I don't care.

I did go to a car show last Saturday. I own a 2004 C5, and I'm 30. I'm 5ft 6 and I look like a kid.

At the car show, there were several C5s. (and C6's) No surprise, bunch of guys who looked like they fought in vietnam were the owners. in their 50's or 70's, Veteran plates, UAW baseball caps, little too much bulk in the midsection.....

Talk about a generation gap....

One guy asked me if my dad let me drive it. I told him that the C5's are not that expensive as he thinks it is anymore. He didn't like that too much. I guess coming from an Asian background doesn't help either....

For cryin out loud, it is not a 60k car. But yes, I think they do get offended when they see a young guy driving it, when they fought in a war, went through the great depression, walked 20 miles to school, got drafted, etc, etc...

I hear ya, I work in a mail room for the State of Missouri and my pay is under 30K a year and I have our IT staff and other people that make two or three times that give me crap. I just tell them that they can afford one also if they ajusted where they spent their money. One guy has a camper that I am sure cost twice as much as what I paid for my 81 Vette ten years ago always blowing me crap.

You young punks and your loud exhausts and music boxes! Back in my day when we were young, if you had a pair of shoes without holes in them, you were lucky! My friend Ted got a bike when he was 18 and the responsibility destroyed his life as he got in with the wrong crowd and stopped doing his chores. He should never have sold that donkey he used to have but he wanted something newer with better technology. What a punk. Riding around on his bike, ringing his bell and making a hell of a racket putting baseball cards in the spokes! He used to keep us up late into the night running around with the girls and other no-good-nicks. Sometimes I couldn't even get to sleep until 8:00pm! I tell you, you young people should just be happy just to have a pair of shoes and a hat. I tell ya, there is nothing better than a nice hat.

I'm 30 and I got my vette a few years ago so I remember when people would think that of me, that it couldn't be my car. People I actually talk to though, I just mention that I have friend who bought a brand new Prius for 10 more grand then I spent on my vette. Most people think insurance must be outrageous and it might be for under 25 but for most people over 25 it's not bad. Me, it's actually cheaper then my 2 year older Lincoln I had before it.

It's not like it's a million dollar car so why the unbelievable thinking it can't be a young person's car. I just say it's my priority to have a Corvette over some lame car. I am young, I don't have kids, I wasn't married when I got it but even so that doesn't matter now. It's mainly the fact that I can carry anything I need to in my daily life in my 1999 Corvette so I see no reason I shouldn't be allowed in people's minds to have one.

If you have a vette and are young, just enjoy it. Don't be concerned about what others think. There will always be other people who are jealous that they can't get one or didn't have one when they were young or whatever.

The only look you should worry about is the one from that guy in the mirror. The sooner you conclude that tne happier you will be.

I know how you feel just turning 25, my car was my 25th birthday present to myself, i worked hard and made a ton of sacrifices for it, im not rich, i work at a subaru plant for a living. thats why i tried to get my license plate to say "not dads" but it was taken by another vette ironically, i had a lot of those looks with my turboed gto too, so i learned to embrace it and made my license plate "inot old" because my mom always said the only time i would be able to get one is when im 60 or above, well im young and im proud of it and i couldnt care what other people think, let them think its daddys car.

It really irks me when people tell me I don't enjoy my garage queen because I only drive it on beautiful, sunny, summer days. If I had a dime for every time I've heard the "It won't melt in the rain" comment, I'd be driving a new C6 Z06.

I didn't read all the comments because of my short attention span and I don't own a Vette (yet) but wanted to throw my .2 our there.

I bought my first car at 15 with my cash, 96 Accord for $1,500. I worked full time (40hrs) in H.S., and managed to knock up my girlfriend (now wife) and continued with work and school. Once I got promoted, I bought an 02' Camry for $12ish grand, and once I got bored with that I bought an 05' Accord for $17k. And since adding 2 more kiddos to the family we've added an 03' Odyssey to the fleet.

Before I became a little more informed on the subject of sports cars, I would see younger guys with Vettes and wonder if it was Daddys, or what are they doing/what could I learn to make that happen. Then I realized that I could own a Vette for about the same or less than I paid for my Accord. I don't understand the hate that happens though.

Money is money regardless of how you spend it. People that are mad don't realize that the $18K they just spent to get that bad *** Toyota Coralla could have had a built Vette. They don't realize that insurance for a Vette (at least with USAA, and my current situation) for a 22 year old is only $15 more a month than an 05' Accord. Ignorance is bliss..

Speaking of, anyone looking to buy an Accord?

I was 25 when I purchased my first Corvette 33 years ago. When I see a younger person driving a Corvette I think WOW cool car.
Age never enters the picture.

This is a age old subject, when I was in my late teens in the mid 60's I got the same looks when I bought my 65 Corvette. I can't remember the actual cost it was somewhere around $4800.00 that was a lot of money back then. Just forget about what others are saying and just be yourself.
