Default Crazy mirror

My 01 hardtops right outside door mirror has gone crazy
When I shut the car off and the driver seat retracts for easy departure
all is well. When I put the key in the ignition andthe seat returns to
the driving position the mirror moves up. I have had the car for two years and this is something that just started. !!!!!
HELP

My 04 vert does the same thing on the drivers side. I started a thread about it around a year ago. Still not able to troubleshoot it yet and it only does it every now and then.

I am thinking its a pinched wire or a loose switch in the door.

Did you try moving it to the correct position and re-programming the seat position in memory for that particular FOB by holding memory 1 or 2 until it blinks ? (1 or 2 depends on your FOB number )

My mirrors started acting up like that a long while back. Being that i am the only one who ever drives the car, i put both mirrors exactly where i wanted them and disconnected them from the switches inside the door panels.

Not exactly a fix but the mirrors sure dont move around on me now.

Same problem here. Every time I get in the car the drivers mirror adjusts to a spot either too high or too low. Not where it was programmed that last time I was in the car. I fear it's a bad door control module. I used to think it was related to a low charge on the batt but now I keep the car on a tender and still have the problem. Still not throwing a code either. Hope someone has figured out the cause of this and will post something soon.

Taking a wild guess here, the position feedback circuit is probably having issues. My '99 has this as well. One of these days when the garage cools off, I'll tackle it and figure out what's wrong.

If I am not mistaken, I believe that the mirror position is part of the seat memory. My '98 did this when I first bought it and all I did was position the seat, the mirrors, and the radio stations the way I wanted them and then pressed and held the #1 button on the door. Now when I get into the vehicle and someone else has driven it I press the #1 button and it goes to my original settings. Amazing! I have never programmed the FOB.
Good Luck.

The memory system sets an electronically programmed position. The mirror is mechanically positioned. What you need to do is move the mirror to where you want it by "brute force". The electrics will then move it back to that new position when the memory position is demanded.

I think I fixed mine by just unplugging the door switch, and then plugging it back in. Anyway, my mirror would always move up. The switch didn't work to move it back down. I found the pin bent over, missing it's socket, on the switch module, and when I plugged it back in the memory started working perfectly.

not to hi-jack this thread, but it seems that several posters here indicate that they can "adjust" the memory settings by simply holding down the memory button that corresponds to the FOB # and whatever position they have currently set will be retained. my problem is that no matter how i try, i can not change the memory setting on my 04 from what was set some long time ago. i still need to manually adjust things like mirrors and seat position after the "memory" has positioned everything based upon the recorded setting. i don't want the hassle of having to re-set everything by removing the battery connection for a while. if i remove the fuse controlling the memory module will that allow for a reset of the system? if so, what fuse is it and is it located under the hood or in the foot well??

thanks for the help

On mine, you hold down the memory button for like 3 seconds and you'll see it flash twice.

I move mine to where I want the mirror on the drivers side and it will still move too high. Everything else works great. I need to replace the drivers side mirror and will deal with it when I change it.

you can buy a replacement glass for the mirror and not have to replace it all. i just changed out my electrochromatic driverside mirror without to very much trouble. bought the part from gene cully at gmpartshouse. OEM GM part.
