I can sit in my DD going down the interstate and hold a conversation with my wife. Try shouting at each other to communicate the most simple words. Take this for what it's worth, those that have super loud exhaust know exactly what I'm talking about.
i don't know what is going on. i guess i need someone that has a stinger system and has drone so bad they can't hold a normal conversation in their car to take me for a ride so i can see what they're talking about. i just returned from 'vettes on the beach' in new york which is about 260 miles each way. no headers or x pipe. top down going up yesterday, top up going home today. other than the wind noise sometimes with the top down my wife and i can hear each other fine talking in a normal voice, and neither of us finds anything about the exhaust to be annoying. i just don't get it.
i saw evil twin's post about not wanting drone in the 2500-3000rpm range at 60-80 mph. i turn 1600 at 70 mph with 3.42 gears. while i agree with everything he says about the exhaust technology, that part has me a little confused.
i'm just trying to figure out why mine's different.
or maybe i'm different.

Yes i also used to cruise at that 1700 RPM which is precisely where the borlas are tuned to drone. The corsas are tuned to drone at around 2600 RPM which is not normally a top gear cruising speed for our cars.
Corsa sport with Tigershark tips here and loving everyday with them.
love those pace tigersharks but sold mine because of weight of them. now have the corsa extremes and it is the same tip as tigersharks but are spaced like to pro series and maybe a bit louder at wot
I may have tripped my tongue over my fingers.. The drone I was talking about was at 60 to 80 mph cruising range and at the 1200 to 1800 rpm range.
In any event , some people have very sensitive ears to the drone effect... others do not,,,my only interest was in letting people know that if they buy a system based on the Idle tone alone, they may find that an extended trip in that cruise range 60 to 80 mph... could be a problem.... there could also be many members with Borla who serves as artillery personnel and cant hear anything anyway... kinda like the old man having the TV volume turned up so loud because he could not hear it.. I will say this.. if your hearing is failing, Borlas will not help that condition. If your hearing is failing badly enough you may enjoy that Borla sound.

oh, that makes more sense. i guess it's something that either bothers you or it doesn't. i can't imagine that any one car is different from another with all things equal.
but i can assure you my hearing is fine.
I have Corsa indy, but I like the sound of Borlas more. Corsas without a cam sounds like a boat to me. Thats being said, Corsas with longtubes is nothing to sneeze at in the volume department.

i have to say, with me it's more about the sound pleasing me more than volume. ask my wife how many exhaust changes i've made on the bike before i found just that right sound. of course it has to be making good power also.
Corsa, quite until you get on it and then music to your ears, more so when you have headers.
Borla, which is what I have, Loud but not too loud. Put headers and from what I hear its a different story. I do love the sound at lower RPM though.
Here's my solution and 2cents, I've gone with the Corsa's then added cut outs. This way on the streets I have a nice deep rumble, but on the highway it can be quieter. Of course I have headers, England Green Whiplash cam, and a A&A supercharger. So that also might have something to do with it. L8R ZFLASH
I am thinking of upgrading my stock 2003 C-5 exhaust at Carlisle. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two. Also what would be the choice to go with ?
Thanks.
Hi Joe -
Thanks for your interest in our exhaust! In addition to our immensely popular "Classic" S-Type kit already discussed here, there are a few other options to consider. Just ahead of this year's Carlisle Show, we've released three newly re-engineered Touring, S-Type, and ATAK cat-backs.
We're constantly advancing the technology of our products to deliver improved sound to our customers. As such, we're proud to say our newest C5/C5 Z06 parts offer all the aggressive sound at your desired sound level with no cabin resonance (drone) at any RPM, in any gear.
If you're interested or have any other questions, please reach out to me directly at 805-246-6000. Thanks again & happy motoring!!
Generally speaking this is true. I love the sound of Borla's but mine is a DD and I didn't want to deal with the possibility of drone.
I went with Corsa Touring. Early in my build plan they did have the more Exotic sound. After adding AR Headers, x-pipe, and a H/C package that just plain rocks.... it definitely sounds like a muscle car. I took my car to the track last month and my friends instructor noted that my car sounded like a NASCAR. That made me .
