Have you thought about getting into an aftermarket hood? This is your chance...just take the insurance check, scrap your damaged hood, and get yourself a nice CF heat extractor hood, or whatever. Turn lemons into lemonade...(did I really just say that stupid comment?)LOL

Effing great idea. I will look into it but I still think the price of a hood would be a lot higher, right?

Looks like the price isnt too bad...but then I'd have to get it painted.

This hood looks pretty awesome though.

I thought crap like that only happened to me. But could also be this forum.

Seems everytime I read about an issue, within a month, I have that issue.

I have learned one thing, if a rock is flying across the highway, it will seek out and find a vette.

Never once has anything happened to my GTO while driving and I lived in PHILLY when I owned that car. Never got hit with anything. Now the vette gets crushed, twice, in 4 months...in the suburbs of PA...

I hit a dang deer the first week I had my C4. The only thing it did was sheer off the headlight. if it would have been light, nothing would have happened.

Got my FRC in Jan. Hit a dang racoon and cracked the underside of the front bumper and it also caused the paint to start peeling on the nose. I temporarily fixed the paint peel, and I'll fix the crack early next spring. It's not bad it's just the principle of it. (this happened a couple weeks ago)

The underside of my rockerpanels is in bad shape as well. So i'm just going to wait until I have the bucks to get a whole new paint job.

My 99 STS looks practically brand new, no dings, no rock marks, no nothing. Go figure!

Then the other day i'm reading about the ABS and traction control issue on here. Yep, the next day my light came on as I'm getting ready to take a trip.

yes I feel your pain. And it doesn't help being a perfectionist as I am, it makes it seem worse than it actually is.

Are you going to have the rocker panel done too? If you are just doing the hood for $600 it would not be worth the net gain of $100 (after your deductible) to file a claim.

I've seen where some insurance companies offer "forgiveness" coverage. What that specifically means, I'm not certain. Ask your agent. It might mean that you're forgiven for one minor collision (per year?) w/o rates going up.

Since you have other damage on the car anyway, look at this as lemonade rather than lemons.
