My fathers '98 is on it's 9th or 10th set of front lights, I've never replaced the bulbs in mine since I disabled the DRLs. If you like the DRLs great leave them on and replace the bulbs regularly, it generates the type of discussion like BSMs
I'm struggling to work out how you could do the relay mod and not have codes. By inhibiting the DRL relays the car tells you the DRLs are not working.

B0502/B0507
The BCM provides control for the DRL relay circuit. The BCM grounds the DRL relay control circuit in order to energize the DRL relay and turn ON the turn signal. This allows the turn signal to be used for DRL, UTD, and approach lighting functions. The BCM monitors the voltage level on the DRL relay control circuit. When the BCM commands the relay ON, the voltage level on the DRL relay control circuit should be low. When the relay is OFF, the voltage on the DRL relay control circuit should be high. If the BCM detects a voltage level other than expected,a malfunction is present and a DTC will set.

I don't doubt what your saying, but I don't know why mine doesn't set the codes. Just went to the garage and checked. Nothing for the BCM, just the usual ones for the SCM LDCM RDCM (Which is caused by the topdown tech plug I believe, never have those when I leave it unplugged) I would think my vette would have those codes, Its had EVERY single common issue with other vettes so far
