I read in here somewhere how to turn off running lights. I did a search on running lights and found nothing. Will someone please tell me how to turn them off while driveing.
Find the relay in the passenger floorboard. Pull it out. Remove the gray plastic cover for it with a tiny screw driver. Next take a piece of a business card and cut a sliver. Slide it between the contacts. Plug it bavk in. Done. No problem. Easy! Also won't throw codes. Either that or pull the #2 fuse under the hood. However you will throw a code and disables completely. Ig you do it the other way....no codes and disables the daytime running only.
DRL's have been a proven safety feature over the years. Please weigh your intentions very carefully considering that you increase your exposure to people who wouldn't "see" you as well running blacked out.
Actually folks it' a fallacy that DRLs are a proven safety feature
Take a look at this post in which the facts are made clear. It was a commercial decision by GM to stndardize between the USA and Canada. NHTSA has always been against DRLs as they cause ambiguity with the turn signals. Amber DRLs are illegal in Europe and I had to inhibit mine to pass the UK safety inspection.
Thanks guys, Im a safe driver, I dont Hot Rod, I drive it like a lil old man cause I am,lol. I just think the car looks better with no lights. Head lights in the daytime actually hurt my eyes, some of them. Running light just look bad to me. Thanks again.
what harm is done by having BO502 and BO507 codes? also what is the difference between the #2 fuse in the floor and the #2 fuse under the hood?
No harm at all. Its just flagging up the fact that the DRLs are not working but you already know that because you inhibited the function.
The two fuses have different functions. The one in the footwell is the monitored load control.
The turn signal bulbs are dual filament multi function bulbs. They provide turn signals, parking lights and DRLs. You have a hot feed for T/S, a hot feed for parking lights and a common ground.

thanks for a response. the bulb deal is like 2nd grade for me but i'm still a little unclear on the fuses. what, if any, difference is there between pulling the footwell vs the underhood fuse. maybe i should ask if you lose more or less, or different functions other than the drl's, depending on which one you pull.
here's where i fall into the 'having a discussion' part of a forum. now that i know there are 2 #2 fuses that will render the drl's innoperative, i guess i could just look them up and see what they run.
