Default Camshaft question...

has anyone heard of a cam that would have the label, GSX 1114 n6645-08. I think this is a custom grind but im not sure. my friend google has let me down... has anyone heard of these identifications?

Some cam grinders will "HIDE" their duration timing numbers and keep them secret---sort of a chciken Sh thing to do in my opinion---
They won't even give them to you over the phone---
However the #'s you show look like an "LG Motorsports" cam grind
But they are listed like "G5X" rather than GSX--- Are you positive about the #'s ??

the numbers i am sure of. G5x series would make a whole lot more sense. Im almost thinking that the "1114" has to do with the LSA meaning that its a 114lsa but that is an assumption. !

I already have it, lol I bought the car at a dealer auction and just got done tearing apart the motor. The vehicle was someones baby, and they spent some money on it. It came with some aftermarket parts.. I dont know the original owner so i cant ask.

You can find out EXACTLY what it is in every detail by taking it to an engine shop that has a "Cam Doctor"--- this device measures exactly what the opening/closing points are--the duration--the lift-- the LSA--the centerline--the overlap---
Most place charge like $50 to do it-

I never tried this but I often thought sitting up a couple of V Blocks, set the cam in their, 2 dial gauges, degree wheel on it. Other than calculating for crankshaft degree's one should be able to figure out the lobe profiles & LSA?

I respect the Top Super Secret cam spec's & there reason's behind it, for me I would never install a camshaft with unknown spec's.

Great idea! I just bought an 03 Z06 with a mild cam, but don't have access to the prior owner to ask the specs. Thanks!
