One day I was wondering what it would be like to drive the Vette faster then the speed limit. The first time I tried it I got all the way up to 70 and my oil pressure sensor failed. The second time I tried it I got it up to 75 and my diff started to leak. The third time I tried it I got it all the way to 80 and my fuel gauge stopped working and it took me three bottles of Techron to get it working again. I'll never exceed the speed limit again!
OK hd, I think we should nominate you for Sainthood! Not going over the speed limit in a Vette is like giving a 14 year old boy a Playboy magazine, sending him to his room and telling him not to look inside....
Just goes to show that the coupes are faster than the ZO6! Ducks....
Its because of the more aggressive gearing that we have in the Z06 with our trans and rear end... Now lets see who will get too 171 faster or for that matter down the 1320 faster lol...

If you believe me on that one I have some prime oceanfront property for sale in Kansas.
Saw 146 one time in my pops 03 anniversay vert with the top down. My girlfriend got very quiet. Matter of fact, from memory, everything seemed to get very quiet. I ran out of ***** at that point, but the car was still pulling. Haven't been up over 110 in my Z since I've had it. Of course all of this was on closed private roads.

Actually the top speed is better on the coupe because of the fastbacks better aerodynamics.I would say I beat at least 90% of stock ZO6's at the track weekly, pretty handily. But that is because the drivers cant launch, wheel hop and spin their tires and miss gears.
This is an interesting topic to me. I am all about top speed, that is why we installed a s/c. Someday I will find out if it will pull in 6th gear. 5th gear speed is limited to rpm, gear ratio and tire size. Maybe someone knows how much rwhp it takes to increase speed after shifting from 5th to 6th, instead of loosing speed. Someone that has run the Silverstate challenge race in their C5 should know.
