My Son-in-law is a Phoenix police officer and after I told him about this topic on the forum he wanted to find out just how fast it really was. We took the vert out to the abandoned 4 lane, 5 mile housing track west of town and did it. The only patrol out there is by the Buckeye Sheriff dept. and we were pretty sure on thanksgiving day there wouldn't be any patrol. It's not on their normal route anyways my son-in-law checked.
We saw 177 on the speedo with the top down and 182 on the speedo with the top up. I was really surprised there wasn't a lot more wind noise with the top up. I have an 02 convertible with only these mods, a blackwing, Z06 shifter and a catback exhaust. I just rode along in the passenger seat, figured he could get away with it (he has before) but I would go straight to jail. Even that was pretty scary but a lot of fun.
