Really funny.....33 reads and no replys. We have done this two-three
hundred times. Do a search. The results are there.

Oh no you just open a can of "do a search its been " replys. But for my money get a diehard. Pretty much all top battery's are just about the same. Just make sure its sealed. Glad you got the lock open.

The 120RC (Reserve Capacity) is the key number here. There is a video floating around from a GM engineer who explains how a good battery without the 120RC can CAUSE the dreaded column lock issue.

Here is what I went with....

Optima Red Top from Costco. Regardless of type, keep charged with battery tender that shuts off when charged. Don't use float charger with AGM.

I use the red top gell battery, if your battery leaks it will eat up the wire harnes that is below the battery. You will have troubles the rest of your ownership.

I'm not sure where you are located, but if you are in the midwest
check out Farm and Fleet. They have a rebadged Deka AGM /
120 RC / 785 CCA and much cheaper than the ones noted above.
I have had success with their batteries in all my vehicles.

Put a Diehard Gold in my '99 coupe a few weeks ago. The Vette jumps to life when I turn the key. Hasn't started this good since I bought the car in early 2009. The Interstate it came with must have been past its prime. Unfortunately, there was no purchase date marked on it. Did a lot of battery searching before buying. Unfortunately, no one battery is preferred. Folks are swearing by everything from a Walmart brand up through the Optimas. Think alot depends on how often you drive your Vette.

When my Red Top died back in Oct 2010, I replaced it with a Sears Diehard Platinum battery. So far, so good. It is not cheap though.
