Do yall think it's worth paying a few grand more for damn near EXACTLY what you want, versus settling for some things you don't exactly like and saving a few grand? There's a c5 for sale near here, he posted on forum, for a bit cheaper, 20k more miles, and has a few things I dislike but based on you guy's experience would I regret settling versus spending a few grand more and getting the perfect, outside of interior color, car?

Under no circumstances should the word regret be associated with your purchase. If it is, it should be a sign to wait, and find another car.

Figure out which options and years are most important to you and hold out for it. You'll appreciate the car more a year down the road. That annoying _________ won't bug you.

Don't settle. Your car is out there.

get the car that you want. it is like a new girl friend. if you just settle for one that will make you feel good for a while, then you want take care of it and it will grow old and you will want to swap. get the one that you will love!

Settling is fine if you're talking about spending $10k rather than $20k. But if your only a couple grand off, get the car you really want. Otherwise, you'll spend the next two years regretting it, then buying the one you really wanted in the first place. Why waste two years being disappointed?

I am still trying to search for that perfect vette, and I found this one but its like a 5-6 hour drive. Think it's worth it or should I keep waiting and saving up for a larger down payment? Right now I can throw atleast 4.5k down.
too many miles/$$$. I paid premium, but I got my '02 Z06 with 16k miles for $24000., Cant see that one for 4 grand less. Keep looking Bud, we will help you.

Well I was told, going to confirm with dealer tomorrow, the 02 electron blue at executive motor carz, that I can put some money down on the vette based on a price negotiated, and then have the remainder after I put money down be the 15k the bank will loan and do it that way. Going to get up early tomorrow call dealership ask about that, if it's a go negotiate a price if they can get it where I want it ill get all the info the bank needs get insurance, my guy told me he can do $80 month full coverage so that's not bad, and then leave tomorrow night to get it assuming the bank will give me the check right away.

If it was me I'd change it up a bit and tell them the most you can come up with is a $15K loan for the car and $5 out of pocket. Thus $20K out the door (OTD)and that you expect a 90day /3000 mile warantee just in case something is wrong. If you want to get an extended warantee to say 100K miles six years just buy that aftermarket for about $500-700 later.

In affect your offering about $18K when all is said and done and that seems like a doable deal for both. I think it's a win-win. However, I would not pay more then $18K plus tt&L for that car WITH at least a three month warantee. That's me though.

Ask them if they have the painted top... If they do not have it you can use that to get your price. If they do so much the better and stick to $20K is the most I can scrape up story.

Bought my 03 with 25K miles on it for $21.5K OTD a three years ago fully loaded. So, this should not be a problem for you in IL. three years later.

$80/mo. insurance is not too bad. Your most likely younger than I and do not have multicar discounts etc... Seems about right for a high performance car of this year for normal male driver.

Good luck !!!!

Well I would go about that route but I need enough money for insurance taxes and all that other jazz. Had to pay for school out of pocket so that set me back a bit. So really only have like 3k extra to spend for a down payment now so that I have money for taxes registration and some just in case leftover.

Sounds like you need that car at $16K then.... or $16.5K... You could try it might happen.

They wanted $28.5K for mine when I walked in. They cut 7K off my deal. But, I had to pretend I was interested in another vette for less with even more miles on it and spend 6-8 hours in there showroom checking various things out and test driving other cars etc...

I think they made the deal just to get rid of me..... That works too.

Good luck... I'm anxious to see how this all works out for you.

John, you're 21, excited as heck and you may have found a nice car at the 'carz' place(much better deal than that other blue one). However, it's a DEALER. They would lowball you beyond belief if you had a car to trade. Be patient with negotiating. YOU have the $$$ and they have one of many cars out there. Don't let them push you around. I don't care how many cars you have owned at your "tender age", but when it comes to negotiating, the dealer regards you as a rookie. I don't think you should pay more than $18k. Buying a car today as compared to 43 years ago when I was your age is a lot different. I bought my '09 Acura over email until the final telephone price was agreed on. THEY CAN GIVE YOU A FIRM PRICE OVER THE PHONE! Don't strap yourself, and get a car with reasonable miles that you can have for a long time. Corvettes are not Yugos, they are good cars and the C5 is a pleasure to live with. Patience is the key my friend. The buyer's greatest tool is the willingness to walk away. I have a friend who's a master car 'negotiator'. His motto is 'there's always another car', and he is right.

Well the credit union emailed me back, after saying I could get 15.3k, and now said nevermind.

I called them and they told me the lowest they could do is 19.2. I told em that aint gunna happen i need it closer to 17 but he told me they don't have that kinda room to move. So i told him alright then and that was it. I guess the search continues. Either they got took for a ride on the trade in, or they're full of it only being able to take off $700.

Tru Dat Motto .... Even though at the time you think there will not be another one up for sale for a while.

Example but, not a car example:

Have been looking to upgrade to a new camera. I like the Cannon I have now but, it's not full HD and my father in law really likes it. I want to give it to him but, the upgraded one $299 on sale for $250 and no one had one for the $250 which frankly a little more than I wanted to pay. However, the purchase was going to serve two people.

Almost gave up but, hoped to find one in the month or so.

Fast forward two weeks - I was out buying some jeans at Target and they had the camera I wanted on sale for $179... Wow, I'm jumping on this. Come to find out they didn't have one in the box.
They asked me if I would take the floor model for 15% off. I'm not sure until I inspect it. The manager comes over and says if I give you a two year replacement warantee for free, will you buy it? I'm like OK. SCORE !!! So, I'm loving this camera and it is nicer than I expected and I saved about 60% off the retail price. Am I happy, you bet.

The same thing happen in car as I mentioned earlier... as one of the other posted stated ... Be patient. This could be the one and if it is jump on it. But, if it's not everything you want at the price you want just tell them you'll pass. Right now it's a buyers market so get it your way.

Yea i'm passing on that. I know a guy who works at a big string of carlots down south so imma have him look for me. I REALLY want a electron blue/navy blue but it seems they're rare as hell. There is a 01 black one for sale on this forum that looks good so im going to see if I can get a loan for that, I don't mind black either Plus it has nicer mods and cheaper. 20k more miles but 70k really aint ****. I highly doubt my dealer guy can get me a c5 for 15-18k with moderate mileage, I mean they have to get a profit aswell obviously.

I also got my insurance guy who said he could get me a vette with a salvaged title that has been repaired, but unless its dirt cheap the potential hassle wouldn't be worth it. And no bank would give a loan on salvage.

Most likely the latter... They may call you in a day or two and talk to you about: "The owner looked at the flooring cost and has to move that car so how about 18K?" Then if $17K is your number stick to it. If you can make $18K happen go for it. Otherwise, just find another one with lower miles and start working on that deal. Look at it like your working to make your money by lowering the price of the car.

I love to shop most guys don't so ... for me I can wait a year or so to get it the way I want it. It just gives my more money the longer I save and then sometime I move up to the next better thing. For example it might be a Z06 for you instead of getting the Coupe out of the box.
I actually like the Coupe better though. I like the way it looks and I don't need the extra 50HP... I can always tune or bolt on that amount of HP.
I know, I know ... there's a lot more to a Z06 than just 50HP.

I hope my posts aren't getting too long.

Look at this one:

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...16367362&Log=0

It's only like 150 miles from me. Nice !!! Should be able to get this for $17,500 and it's a 2003

Again, good luck.

Naw they're very informative. I appreciate all the advice for sure. He told me they just couldn't do it because they don't have that kind of markup. The only reason I was going with that car is because it had every feature but interior color that I wanted. Which to me is worth an extra 2k or so. But 17k is prolly my price so screw em I can wait!

But that being said, the kind of person I am, it is very hard for me to wait when I got my mind set on something lol. I could not wait a year to get one at all. A week is already tearing me apart!

I really don't like the look of the z06, the lines and the trunk I can't do it. Even if I never take the top off a coupe I rather have that then a z06. And to me the difference between a z06 and a coupe will be surpassed when I mod the coupe

Thanks for all the help man, im going to look into this black one some more, see what my dealership guy can get, and go from there.

All I can say is close your eyes and visualize yourself sitting in that vette of yours. Visualizing help more than most people understand. It helps you get in alignment with your energy, true wants and power to obtain your dreams.

This is how my Vette became a reality. I put it on a dream board and looked at it every day. Granted it took me about 6 months once I did that but, it did happen.

I've had dreams about it! Honestly no joke lol. That's part of what makes me so anxious and dying to get it. I originally wanted a ws6, I LOVE the front ends they just look so ****ing mean. But I always liked the c5 aswell just thought it was outta my price range until I discovered the secret they they're amazingly affordable.
