Mixing runflats with non-runflats
I recently bought a 2000 Vette with new Goodyear Runflats on the front, but I need to replace the rear tires. Considering buying Nitto 555 for rear and leaving the Goodyear's on the front since they are already on it. Think this would mess things up, or be better to buy 4 Nitto's and try to sell my new front tires? I don't drive on the track, but occasionally hit the turns on the highway.

Mine was the other way around when I got it. New run flats on back, old on front. I replaced my fronts with Hankooks. Now I've finally burnt my rear r/f down. Looking forward to new tires in rear to lessen noise and better traction. I had no problems in the two years I have run this mixed set up. I got the car aligned at the same time I replaced the front tires. I keep a tire repair kit and pump in the trunk. So far no need.

The '02 Coupe I bought a few months ago has Goodyear Eagle Supercar EMTs (runflats) up front & Michelin Pilot supersports in back. It's working great -- smooth, quiet ride. No problems whatsoever. However, they are all about worn out & I'll be replacing them soon with either Michelin AS/ZPs or Continental DWs.

I had Michelin run flats all around. Replaced rear with BFG non-run flats. Now car acts skittish. Alignment double checked.
Conclusion is to replace front w/ matching tires.
Would really appreciate feedback if you have run into a similar dilemma.

I just don't like mixing tire types. I wouldn't do it.

Your BEST bet is to change them all. Even different age tires can cause some interesting handling problems. Different brands even a bigger risk, and in my opinion, RF's vs non RF's is too much to chance.

If it is in your budget get 4 tires that match, You drive a Corvette and it deserves some respect. I could never do this to my car.
Just my opinion.

I have nrf on the front and rf on the back and have no issues, I drive pretty hard.
The above video I think he let up on the throttle and the rear tires stopped spinning as much and got more traction when he was too far out of line, he should of straightened out with the rear tires still ripping away... it's instinct to let up on the throttle once you think you got a little too far out of control. That is just my opinion.

I have DWs on the rear and Michelin runflats on the front (until they wear out) all it does is give a bit more understeer which is corrected with a bit of throttle. If you are chasing the absolute best track time it is important but if its a daily driver or a car that is not driven to its max all the time than its not that important.
