I've had 2 sizes of the Cali dusters for years. I use the large one on the exterior as described above and keep the small one handy to use on the dash and other interior components.

Oh, I have never washed mine. I just give them a good shake every time I use them.

Works great on pollen or light dust. A easy reach to the roof of the sport utility too.

I'm reading some people wash theirs with cold water only. They have paraffin wax in them. Should last for years without washing them. Just shake them.
Not for use on a a filthy car. It's a duster.

Agree w/positive posts re the Calif Duster. Have mine since '99 & never cleaned it. I shake mine after every pass. It's a duster use very lightly. I put mine when new between sheets of newsprint for a day b-4 using to get rid of the excess paraffin wax. I have no knowledge about the Turtle Wax dusters. Get one you'll like it...

Just an Observation: This forum with only a couple of exceptions is great. Why? Because you can have an elongated discussion on something as mundane as the California Duster (that I've also been using for nearly 20 years - the same one!) without having anyone jump down someone's "throat" as I've seen on other forum sites.

Worked great for dusting furniture in the house, so much so that I'm getting one of their dash dusters. Oh it worked great on the cars also.

I also just use it for light dust, and after use of the Vette. follow up with McGuire detail spray
I was wondering how they compared seeing that it was under the Turtle Wax name, and not from an unknown company with generic products. I thought it could be an improvement over the original product.

When you say it is a little "lighter on the mop" you mean in wheight, or that it has shorter strands, or a less "populated" head?

In your opinion, having a lighter wax treatment is a good thing or a disadvantage?

Thanks for you help.

I have one but I hardly ever use it. I the car has been sitting for a few days in the garage and not covered, I will use my compressor and the nozzle to blow off the loose dust and if need be I will then hit it with my detail spray of if need be my waterless wash, then the detail spray.
The key to the duster is to only have it lightly touch the surface. I have never simply laid it on the surface and started rubbing it all over the car, like have have seen it dome.

It's pressure that will cause scratches. Go easy and you'll be fine. I replace my duster every year or so.

GCG:

I meant that the strands are a bit shorter and not as thickly populated. Very little difference. Seems to work just fine. again for dust, not dirt.

Seriously, just ordered a dash duster from turtle wax for dusting furniture at home.... I tried the car duster and it worked great.

I also suggest you go to the California Duster website. Their prices seemed cheaper than Amazon for the original Duster.

I just want to thank everybody for all suggestions, ideas, recommendations, etc.

I just went to the Califonia Duster website and found out that in addition to the "Original" now they have an "Ultimate Premium"! Choices, choices, this is very difficult

Used for VERY LIGHT dust only. I shake it out 3 or 4 times when dusting the Corvette, wash it a couple of times a year and buy a new one every three years. I also have a California Car Dash Duster which is very handy.

Got a question guys, I have two Cal. Dusters, I dropped one in the wash because if was over 2 years and collecting a lot of dust.. But when it came out and dried, it losts it ability to hold the dust.. So do they sell the chemicals that was in the duster so I can purchase and re-oil it so to speak..... I have the other one, it is still new but is now being used all the time... Thanks.

For $20 to buy a new one, I'd throw away the washed one.
