I bet your a million bucks that insurance heard the word customized sports car and decided right then and their to terminate your policy. What type of MOD you made or may be making does not matter to them. They simply heard higher horsepower more risk. I once called Gieco for a insurance quote. They ask me did I own a radar detector. When I answered yes they replied they could not offer me anytype of policy and would not continue the conversation at all. You have now been flagged by them and nothing you can tell them is going to get them to change their minds. Sad but true.
My insurance company called me today to tell me my request to cover "customized parts" was denied. And that I would have to insure my Corvette elsewhere after the end of this six month policy... Why do you ask??? Because my car as an "Upgraded" suspension... Yea that's right... a Z51 suspension from factory... I tried to explain to the lady and her manager... but neither one would have it. The only way they would reconsider is if I had dealer documentation... So I called my chevy dealer who said that they didn't have the information because my car was too old... I told my insurance company how stupid they were... Since a good amount, maybe 60% of corvettes 5&6 Gen. had that option from factory...
Any ideas on what to do? By the way this is with 21st Century. Maybe I should switch???
/end rant
I am not sure how it works, but I belive in Texas you can contact the state insurance board and file a complaint or an appeal for the decision. I am pretty sure my parents used this avenue to resolve an issue they had once.
2000 Z51, full coverage with USAA 350 every 6 months.
Good company but will not insure extra speed parts beyond
$5000. They changed their policy. I had to take the vette to
Adam. Glad I did.
Now why would you waste so much time on a company that
does not want your business and I am sure you can get better
coverage some where else. They are probably doing you a
favor.
Seriously, I'd take them all away. I have everything with State Farm, annuity, 4 cars, home, 3 different "personal" policies, plus an "umbrella liability" policy with them, and they do know, treat me bad, and they are all gone.
I'm not anyone special, I just let companies I do business with know how I am, that's all.
I agree.. I use State Farm also. I pay $103 a month for my 02 C5Z and my 03 Subaru WRX. That's with liability and collision.
Do not waste time & energy trying to satisfy underwriters at 21st Century. There are two large companies in particular that you do not want auto or home insurance with and 21st Century is one of them. The other is Allstate. You don't want Allstate in particular. Anyone who defends these two companies simply doesn't understand the long term realities of the insurance world.
AAA - yes
USAA - yes
State Farm - yes
& there are a number of other good companies.
There are four aspects to consider with respect to such insurance purchases:
1. What is the premium the first few years?
2. What will the premium be after the first few years?
3. What is the claim payment record on small and medium claims?
4. What is the claim payment record on large and huge claims?
You also might want to consider how flexible any company is with respect to covering unusual items such as a highly modified corvette.
The Corvette Museum and other collector car specialty houses are always worthy of consideration.

cant you get a window sticker based on your vin from the corvette museum?
I just read this thread and was waiting for you to mention this!! Otherewise I was going to. One can also buy the factory "build sheet" to. Seems like that would be all the documentation needed.
But........I'd just dump 'em and find a different ins. company.
Alliance United here. I've had them for about 3 years. They took care of my totaled 02 Z with no problems whatsoever. They're also likely the most affordable since they don't spend a billion dollars a year to advertise. I found them through an insurance broker. They were 1/2 the price of every other insurance company I'd tried (including Mercury, All-state, Farmers, "The General" which is a scam, and Safeco) with the same exact coverage.
Allstate here, No issues, 21st Century is Farmers ins.. Move on...
Allstate is the WORST insurance company out there. I don't want to get into specifics yet as I am just finishing up my case against them(3 years), but take it from someone who has a BIG Allstate dagger in their back-RUN from Allstate. 40 year customer home/auto and never had one claim, comes time to pay and they go out of their way to screw and manipluate. Ask any body shop or repair place that has to deal with them and they will say the same. RUN!!!(I will be posting more info in a seperate thread as time and situation allows)

Best advice, find a insurance company and purchase an agreed upon value policy. It's not a big deal, have all my vettes on one.
Listen to Rick, he knows his stuff. I was with State Farm on my 98 Coupe and insurance was $1000 per year ($82.xx per month w/$1000 deductible). I have all my other stuff with State Farm as well, but they said my car wasn't old enough for the collectible car discount. I took the advice of a forum member and contacted Leland West in California and got an agreed upon value policy. Unlimited mileage, $0 deductible and my full coverage insurance now costs me $360 per year ($30 per month and saves me a full $600 per year over the State Farm policy). Only requirements is not a daily driver (which its not) and kept in locked garage when not in use (which it is). Rick is right, follow his advice...
On a side note, Adam at NCM and Leland West (and some others) are resellers for American Modern Ins. From all the reports I've seen or read, if anyone had a claim, it was almost instantaneous payments. No hassle whatsoever.

Check out Grundy, they have a new MVP program for newer cars. Needs to be garaged unless you are on a trip. I have all my cars covered by them except daily drivers. Great prices and you can trust them. Agreed value too.
Gosh I do have 21st Century (old AIG before they changed thieir name) on my 3 "normal" vehicles.. All 6 of my Corvettes are with Adam at the Museum .
I;m not use how any company can say a factory installed option suspension 'is grounds to deny you coverage.. But personally I would not care I'd just switch tomorrow then pick up the phone and cancel 21st Century and demand a refund for the unused portion of your policy..They can not kept that money !
