My '98 vert's driver's side headlight won't open on it's own but the lamp is on - I can open it manually with the **** though. I replaced battery and it was ok for a few weeks, now it's acting up again. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.
check if power is going to them . might be the gears witch commonly wear out or brake. if not the gears motor. if it is a power issue you might want to check fuses

Mine does the same thing, it works sometimes and others it doesn't. It's not the gear and I tried oiling it, but so far I haven't figured out the problem.

for all intensive purposes i think this is a grate idea. minus well check everything to be sure
If your gear is bad you will hear it. Do you here grinding? If it is then its the gear and being a 98 I'm surprised it hasn't happened. Another thing is pull the healight module out and clean the connectors they may be corroded or the module is going out. If not those two look into your healight switch/stalk those go out a lot I can guarantee it will be one of those three

Check to see if the 2" cam bolt is in place. I had same thing happen to me a week ago and got the gear rebuild kit and redid both when I discovered the the retaining gromet on the cambolt slid off. I guess it needed to be done sooner or later anyway
I have a 02 zo6 and the drivers side comes up almost every time during the day. And almost never comes up on the first 3-4 tries at night.
It has become a family joke that the car is afraid of the dark.
I have cleaned and checked the connections over and over. After I work on it. The motor works fine for a while. Evetually, it stops working. If I unplug and replug the connector. it usually works. Sometimes I have to jiggle or tap the motor and then it works.
Short of replacing the motor. I have become very fruastrated with this.
