Default Plug wire question

Hi all, I'm changing out my old plug wires and was wondering if you can leave the factory metal sleeves off. I'm replacing with GM Red wires.

Thanks

Well I've been running without them for years without any whining . . . well every once in a while some of the female voices drive me nuts, but I've never noticed the whine.

Default Put them back on - whats the problem

When I did plugs and wires I got the red ones from Gene. The metal cans fit perfectly just like on the black wires. Put them back on and be done with it.

I did MSD wires and kept them on, They are a little loose since the boot is not designed for the shells. It will prolong the life of the boots slightly if you keep them, but I doubt it's much difference. I actually also slipped the shells into the Taylor fiberglass socks for double resistance from the turbo manifolds. Just food for thought.

Did the same thing when I changed out the plugs/wires on the '00 I had. Fit perfectly.

The engineers at GM went through the trouble of including the shields in the design of the C5 Corvette for a reason. Use the shields.
