Default idea for cupholders

I just thought I would run this by everyone before I start drilling
What would be the harm of drilling 2 3 inch holes in the console cover and installing two stainless or plastic poker table cupholders in the console
The console does not hold much and it looks like you could get 2.5 to 3 inch deep holders in the cover. Has anyone tried this ? I am not happy with any of the cup holders I have seen so far

Hmmm.... done right it could be useful and look good.

Center console is fairly useless as it is.

I think its probably going to look tacky though. Just my honest opinion.

I wouldn't like the idea of drilling holes in the car.

Try it out and post pics. That's the only way we will all know

You can find replacement parts for the console lid easily.

WHY in the world would you want to make holes in your console. I would use 3M double sided tape or industrial strength velcro in case you dont like it,or looks too tacky, which it probably will. the double sided tape will more than likely secure it. and if you have to remove it,you can use Goo Gone or a strong cleaner to remove the residue. And no holes. I wouldnt want to buy a used Vette with holes punched in the console.

Interesting idea but that location might be susceptible to your elbow knocking over the drinks. I have the travel buddy and am very happy with it.

You could certainly give it a try, but I'm not sure you will have enough clearance to put two 3" deep cupholders in the console. I'm not one to go drilling holes in the car (heck, I didn't even want to drill holes for splash guards ). I think the travel buddy cupholder looks good and does a good job with drinks - that's the way I would lean.

Default holes

If you want to drill holes that fine.....but take into consideration that heat and sound will come along with drilling the holes

yep, I'm getting a Clear option as well. The travel buddy allows stuff to rub on my console and when not in use it's in my wifes way. Waste of money but until now I didn't see a good alternative.

You mean drill holes in the middle armrest. Unless you have no elbows, probably not a good idea.

Girl-In-A-Box has a nice fold up cupholder that a lot of people - including me - run.

I went with clear option on my 00 convertible. I am quite happy with them. The driver's side is mounted about an inch from the floor and the drink sits under the right leg. No problem accessing it. Should the cup holders ever wear out or I screw up and break one I can go to the local NAPA store or anyplace they sell marine cup holders and replace that part for under 10 dollars. The guy who figured out the plexiglass mount deserves the price they command.

Seems like that would get in the way if you rest your arm there which I do. I have had the travel buddy for a while now and love it. Pops right into place. I even added a blue led on the bottom half so it makes my water bottle glow blue at night.
