How about a high 10 second car that was used for American Togue.
My old MR-S. You guys sound ignorant as hell in this thread.
2045lbs with me in it, 385RWHP. Drove it daily 30 miles each direction in LA traffic. No VTEC but it did have VVTL-i.

But that car isn't less than $7K, which was the entire premise behind the start of this thread.

Neither is a Corvette. I paid $5500 for my MR-S, $2000 for the Elise/GTS Engine/Trans install, $1500 for the turbo kit used, made my own piping, $150 to dyno tune.
The Bodykit wheels and exterior parts were free thanks to sponsors. My initial speed investment though plus my car less than $10k. Ran an 11.55 @ LACR with this setup without the widebody I forgot the altitude but its high.

I never said it was.
This thread was created because someone said you can build a reliable 9 second vtec for 1/2 the price of a Corvette.

VTEC/VVTL-i --- I think I just proved you can get pretty damn close.

11.55 seconds is nowhere close to 9's.

That was at altitude with no grip and a slipping clutch I might add
That setup would probably run 10's. LACR closed down and I didn't have another 1/4 mile to go to. I can tell you this though, I beat a 10 second Cobra by 3 car lengths until I ran out of gear at 145MPH (closed road mind you.)
