Default How rare are Corvette assembly photo's from plant?

My Dad ordered a new Vette in 2000. A friend in management at the plant knew of his order and arranged >25 photo's of its build through the plant. Have the photos, order sheet and paper with spec's that was on car during build. Curious how rare this is? Is this done for everyone that "birth's" their Corvette?

Photos are NOT allowed in assembly plants. I worked for Ford Motor Co. as a Quality Coordinator and traveled to several plants. They do not want any of there secrets exposed to the public. It's not top secret but they try to keep there technology from other manufacturers.

Yes I have several pics...........................

History channel did a nice review of the C6 being built. I would guess they were restricted on what they filmed and were they went with cameras.

A friend in town ordered a new ZR1 and did the package where you fly down and build the engine, however they would not allow photographers in the plant to get pictures of the build due to gearing up for the c7

I'd say pretty rare since you (the public) can't take pics in the plant. Having someone on the inside do it was a great benefit to your dad.

My 06 Toyota has many more quirks/squeaks than my 01 Vette. Of course care is a factor.

They should become more common now that you can get one of these...

Really? When we toured the BG plant on 2009 I had my camera and took many pics. Nobody said a word to me.

I spent most of my career in manufacturing and it's rare that any plant allows photos, especially in the last few years since industrial espionage and technical piracy has fueled the growth of global competition and economies.

I can't say about 2009, but today no purses, phones or cameras are allowed in the BG plant. As a matter of fact, the plant is currently re-tooling for the C7 and is closed to visitors until Fall of this year.

I did a Euro delivery on a BMW. Wish I could have driven my Vette on the autobahn!
