While doing something else, I knocked over one of my bottles of Techron. At the time, I didn't think anything of it. After a few moments I smelled something. The bottle was leaking, so I picked it up and tightened the cap, which was loose.
I then checked the rest of my 4 bottles and not a single one of them had a tight cap. The next time you pick some up, check the cap for being on tight. The stuff is too expensive to waste, or allow to evaporate because of the cap not being properly seated at the factory.

Reason: Fixed the title.
Yep, they come from the factory with a foil seal. Due to the flammability of this stuff, I doubt that they could ship it if it didn't have a foil seal!
Every bottle I've ever opened has had a seal under the screw on cap.
It's kind of hard to spill something that has a seal placed on it from the factory. If the bottle the OP had problems with did not have this seal it would indicate that someone had purchased it and returned it. I'd wonder what was really in it to begin with and would definitely NOT put it in my gas tank.
I've used dozens of bottles of Techron over the rears and they ALL had foil seals. Unless you removed the seal yourself, I would NOT pour the contents into my tank............
Thanks OP, I had a similar issue...bought a pack of the from costco...the seal on one of the bottles was not glued on (not broken either)...didn't notice until I got in the car (smell of gas)...no prob replacing...could be deliberate but now thinking this a quality control issue...this was about a year ago. Thanks!
