...Oh by the way...where are you all buying your 35K Cobras??? I bet they're going for tons more... :chevy :seeya
Got mine in Vegas for under 35k, sticker is on my website. :)
I'm getting mine at MSRP too.. 34,750 from Brien Motors in Everett Washington..
one thing I'm curious about.. were both expecting August delivery(22 July build date for mine) but our VIN #'s are quite abit different
1FAFP48Y93F309478 for yours
1FAFP48Y23F302626 for mine.. I wonder what the difference between them is..
oh, mine has the reg rims, kept the spoiler and parchement seat inserts..
Somehow I think that it is mostly those of us in Texas or California (and maybe the northeast states) that regulary get screwed by jack azz dealers trying to mark cars up. :mad
i don't know what everyone is worried, just got august's road and track yesterday and for some strange reason they could only muster a 13.3 1/4 mile at 108 mph... i can't wait to see these at the strip and even better on a track. my Z with my dope butt drivin' ran a 12.63 with a 2.10 60", remember they can mod and so can we!

I will bet they will stick on a "market adjustment" like they did with some of the other special editions (vette included here...) I would be very interested at 35k.
How many of these super-cobras will be produced in 2003?
I think it would be a good car for the wife - she gets all nervous driving the vette, and the cobra will look pretty much like all the other mustangs out there, so it will not attract as much attention at her business.
I wonder if the young gals that give me "the grin" will feel the same about a mustang? Just wondering.
I think it's great Ford pulled out all the stops and made a monster. Is it the equal to Z06? To the Z-28 (may they rest in piece)? Let's do the numbers:
The Cobra's are pushing ~365rwhp at 3700lbs (based on posted results)
Z-28's are 310rwhp at 3500lbs
Z06's are (guess) 350rwhp at 3100lbs (haven't seen an 02 on a dyno yet)
10 HP = 0.1 seconds for 3000-4000lb cars
100lbs = 0.1 seconds for same.
(derived from my own experience and observations)
Z-28's driven by average drivers run 13.5 on OEM tires. Cobra should be ~13.1 second ET under same conditions.
Z06's should be 12.7 same 60's.
On paper, the Z06 should beat the Cobra until the Cobra pushes >400rwhp, or about ~11lbs of boost.
But as reality kicks in, things change. Any car that runs 14.0 or quicker is VERY driver dependant. I've seen Z-28's go 14.1 to 13.1. And C5's from 13.8 to 12.8. (bone stock) So I guess the Cobras will run 13.7-12.7.
So a good driver in any of these cars can beat a poor driver in any of these cars.
Ahh yes, the old "compare the slowest published time to my best time and declare victory".
I have that same R&T sitting on my desk right now... I notice they ran 13.1@111 in their Z06.
I've run 11.68@121mph in my Viper GTS, so I hereby declare the Viper to be 1.5 seconds quicker in the 1/4 with a 10mph trap speed advantage.
Dayum, I had no idea the Z06's were THAT much slower than the Vipers!
I don't aggree with compairing mag times either... but in article with the slow Z time they attributed it to a clutch that was very warn out and need replacement... times on other cars seem more in place.
Interesting to note in the same issue they tested a regular C5 50th Anv Vette (at a higher elevation to), than ran from 0-100 .4 sec quicker than the 03 Cobra they had.

Everyone on this board already knows that you are not a fan of the Z06. Please give it a rest already.
FWIW, My brother has a 97 Viper GTS and I've watched him run numerous mid 13s. I even saw him once run a mid 14 and an Eclipse beat him. Maybe the Z06 is faster than a Viper!
His car put down 416 HP to the rear wheels when we dynoed it so it would be safe to say that he is not a good drag racer.
$4,000 will get the Magna charger and leave most anything wondering what the hell happened on a Z.
But a couple hundred bucks for a wastegate and Hypertech reprogram will be all that it will take to turn up the boost on a Cobra. It's going to be cheap and easy for Cobras to make significant increases in hp.
And unlike the Magna charger, all they have to do is reflash the prom and put the original wastegate back on the car, and they are covered by warranty...
I myself am not to worried, because last Friday night at the track was an brand new 2003 Cobra with the plastic still on the interior, and was only running a 13.0 Now Steve Row and Ranger can verify, because they too were there watching. Now Steve Row did a 12.01 I believe, and all he has is drag radials and a breathless intake. Now Steve would have proabably been a lot faster, had it not been for the heat and humidity. So while everyone else is out there bititng there nails over the new 03 Cobra, I will be at home admiring my Cobra killa. :reddevil

Hehehe...
Yeah I agree! That's the way evaluate these. Oh, BTW - Watch this Video.
It's SoCal Rebel (Ron) with a 430rwhp Viper against my stock SS Camaro: http://www.qinsp.com/pat/viper.jpg
I've ran Vipers 3 times in a $28K Camaro, full weight, stock engine. Not even headers. All Factory CA Smog. The best any of them has run against me is 12.68.
So Camaros are faster than Viper, Cobras are faster than Camaros, hence Cobras are WAY faster than Vipers...
 Rbartick, you get the award for "most oblivious to sarcasm".
The point I was making, since you missed it, is that there is no relevance in comparing a published magazine time to a personal best time. If that were the case, the Vipers are 1.5 seconds and 10mph above the Z06. Now, do YOU believe that's what the gap is? Because I sure don't. Do you believe the Z06 is a second and 10mph quicker than the Cobra? Because I don't believe that either.
As for what I think of the Z - well, I don't have a Viper anymore, and I do have a Corvette. I think the Z is a great performer and shows Dodge how bad they have let the Vipers initial performance get to their heads. However, the Viper is still top dog in the performance food chain, and if you got the Z to be the fastest and baddest, well that spot is taken by the Viper, and the Z06 plays second fiddle in that category. If you wanted great performance with some level of comfort in a less "blow your eyeballs" package and a cheaper price to boot, you did alot better with the Z than you would have with a Viper.
Anyone who would proclaim the Z's vast peformance gap over a Cobra based on their run vs. a magazine time, is EXACTLY as mistaken as I would be if I believed the Viper to be 1.5sec and 10mph quicker than the Z. Replace Z06 with Viper, and Cobra with Z06 and re-read the comment, and you'll see where I'm coming from.
EPA city/highway for the 2003 SVT Mustang Cobra is 16/22.This accounts for the gas guzzler tax of $1,000. Here in Orlando, Greenway Ford is charging $5,000 over sticker for limited availability though they are scheduled to receive 10 this year. At Orlando Speed World one ran 13.2 at 110mph at 80 deg. and 79% humidity. They appear to have quite a bit of low end torque but appearance wise look like another Cobra unless you know the tell tale signs ex.hood, body color side view mirrors etc. I was not moved to do anything short of an LPE/Magnacharger supercharger package with the optional drivetrain warranty on my stock Vette. The Corvette is simply a better package with comfort and style to boot. Raul :D
