James didn't post any pics on Friday so I figured I'd fill in for him.
This is my first attempt at using Photoshop to enhance a picture of my 2000 Arctic White coupe. It didn't turn out half bad, but it is far from a professional level. It earned me an A on the assignment, I took a class on design just to learn how to use Photoshop, so I figured it could have been worse. The first picture is the enhanced image, the second is the original used to create the first.
Nice looking shot, Ed. Glad you got something out of your PhotoShop class. Took a basic digital photography class and our instructor was a real jerk. All he did was play on his computer, and just left the class to experiment and learn on their own. It was a real joke. I learned more by just picking up tips and tricks using the Internet.
I've never been able to get a good shot of my Arctic White coupe outside. Inside the garage, it looks glassy wet. Outside, it looks like it hasn't been waxed in years.

C5's look so nice in white! Nice, simple enhancements to your photo, good job and congrats getting the A!!
We haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet but I've been out at the C2C2 meets the past few Sundays... hopefully I'll see you out there soon.
I've been taking photos and using photoshop for about 12 years so if you ever have any questions feel free to ask!
I've got a before and after of the recent photos (see avatar) I shot last week if you'e interested in seeing the difference... Photoshop (and Lightroom) are very powerful tools
Nice editing, looks good.
PS and Lightroom are awesome tools, just awesome. I do most of my image development in Lightroom!
Agree with Mr. Bill YouTube is a great resource!

It looks like you were shooting with the flash, or with direct sunlight behind you. Try shooting without the flash, or standing back a little bit so the flash doesn't blow out the nearest surface. Try to get out on an overcast day, or a day with lots of clouds - preferably clouds with texture. This will give the car nice even lighting (like a giant light box) and help bring out all of the curves and surface details. The reflections of the cloudy sky are what help show all of those peaks and valleys in the car's surface. Also, try crouching down a bit. The C5 has lots of subtle surface development that shows up better when you shoot from a low angle.

Thanks Van. I don't know if the guys told you or not but I was in an accident last month that broke my driver's side headlight, among other damage, and the lady who hit me is claiming she didn't. Until my lawyer can force the issue with her insurance company so I can get my car fixed my car is a daytime driver only.
Because I live so far away, if I went to a GTG I'd have to leave as soon as I got there to beat sunset getting home. Hopefully things will be settled soon and I can get back to my normal routine so I can meet you and the other new club members.
I'd love some tips from you and would like to see the before and after of your recent pics; I saw them in the Southwest thread and they looked great. I still have a long way to go in learning how to use Photoshop to its full potential and would welcome any tips you might have for me.

Try taking your pics on a cloudy day or in an enclosed space, such as a parking garage. White is nearly impossible to take good pictures of when in direct sunlight.

Thanks guys.
It was a fun class and I did learn quite a bit, but I also learned that what I know right now barely scratches the surface of the possibilities. I'm looking forward to playing around with it more.

I had seen your posts mentioning the wreck.. sorry to hear it.. .hopefully you can get everything resolved soon and get back to fun times!!
Here are a couple before/afters...
First.. from the session the other night with my Z06. This was a bit of light processing in Lightroom before tossing it into Photoshop to clean up a few marks on the pavement and add some sharpening.. very simple stuff, nothing complex at all...
Before: (Straight out of camera)
After:
Second, here's a MUCH more advanced one of my Z4 before I sold her... this consists of 26 individual exposures blended together using photoshop then the blended image was thrown into Lightroom for hue adjustment and some final tweaks. Also.. the background is the actual background at that spot... not a background from somewhere else that was just shopped in
Before (Single Exposure - straight out of camera):
After (26 Exposure Blend):
It takes quite a bit of time and a whole lot of patience but it's awesome what can be done with these programs + long exposures + hand-held flashes!

I see that I need to invest in a new camera setup when the funds are available.

Meh.. just any SLR that'll allow you to shoot long exposures! I recently picked up a Nikon D3100 w/ 18-55mm kit lens off Ebay for only $200. I could recreate these photos with that camera no problem
Actually, I just remembered.. the recent photos I posted of this past Sunday's C2C2 meet were taken with the D3100. Lens is a manual focus Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 ($250). The photos did require a bit of editing in Lightroom/Photoshop.. that parking lot isn't too flattering!
