Dude get used to it there are people that are corvette purist, the ones that don't do any mods and the ones that do, it's unfortunate that some condem the ones that aren't happy with the performance that the stock C5 came with, it's a great car out of the box, but it begs to be modified, be careful what you ask for on these forums cause you will get poked at by the forum members that do not agree with the choices you make.
You got an awesome deal that makes a lot of people jelouse, it's obvious by the responses.
Don't let it bother you, they are a dying breed IMO
Did I sound jealous ? Hardly ! Actually glad that the future headaches don't belong to me !
These kids come here bragging about what they think is a good buy. Then when some mature people with some automotive credibility tell them how they feel, they start to cry, calling people names, especially when logical minds seem to be saying the same thing. Then some other genius comes in and uses the jealousy card. the next thing will be, my car can beat your car. This forum use to be filled with the demographic the C5 was designed to appeal too. But now that anyone can buy a C5, this forum has turned into an adolescent school yard.
Guys c'mon, why is it when someone is happy with a great find y'all have to rain on their parade, I totally respect the fact that there are people on here that have been a contributing voice of this forum for a long time, but that does not give you or anyone else the right to beat people down just because it's not your cup of tea. You would think as a man grows older he would understand that times change, not everyone shares the same ideas regarding what makes a car special to them, I've been reading a lot of post here since I became a member and I've noticed that if someone does not agree they are chastised by the older members and their buddies, the guy got a great deal, maybe not what some would want but it's his money, that's all that matters.
And to think that you have to be some kind of special person to own a Corvette or any type of vehicle is nuts, if you work hard and pay your bills and are responsible you can own anything you want, I never knew you had to be a certain type of person to own a Vette. Just because the older Cars have become more affordable and more people can afford to own them does not mean they are not worthy.
That just sounds very condescending to me.

Nice car and a pretty decent deal! I got a steal on my 02 Mallett Z06 in June. I have all the original paperwork that adds up to over 60k in modifications and the car only had 5,700 miles on it. I paid 14,000 for it. It did need minor mechanical work to get it back on the road. It needed to EBCM re-installed and the Blower installed and a more street friendly clutch installed. I did all the work myself so it only cost me another 1,400 bucks on top of what I bought the car for. My mod list is long as well. Heads, Cam, Intake, Vortech, Penske 3 way adjustable shocks, Red Devil brakes with ceramic rotors, Roll bar, Trans and oil coolers with pumps, Carbon Hood, Wheels, Mini-tubbed with 345 rear tires, Monster twin disc clutch, upgraded radiator, 3" corsa exhaust, Kooks headers. and all kinds of little extras that add up to thousands! Congrats on the find and enjoy the hell out of it!
As for Evil-Twins concern of future problems, I bought my car with the assumption the motor was blown up, but hoping it wasn't (Purchased from original owners widow who knew nothing about the car and why It was taken apart.) I got it cheap enough I felt even with that possible problem I could get it back on the road for under what i would pay for a stock running 5700 miles Z06, and this this one had a laundry list of mods. I later found out it was taken apart by the original owner because the EBCM was faulty and he was not a mechanical person at all. I got the car with the new EBCM in a box in the back. he had numerous other fast cars and got half way done with this project and just let it sit for 4 years while he moved to the next project and he never got back to it before he passed away. I also knew it was going to need a clutch because the one he had in there was not remotely street friendly. I have no regrets. I have a brand new perfect running badass car for 16 grand! I was well aware of all the what-if's that comes with a purchase like mine. I can easily see Evil-Twins look on a purchase like this. I have thought the same myself. But in my case i looked the car over well and just said screw it! lol!

They seem to be in the range of 21,000 to 24,000 in my neck of the woods for a bare stock with 60,000-70,000.
I'm guessing someone took a pretty good bath with this car. The short block was 4k. And the supercharger was not cheap I'm sure. New radiator. Good clutch and tranny. Well built motor.
so hard to decide if i should sell it. modern technology is so nice I'm finding. I've owned it for so long already, i got a good deal on it and purchased it before the big mopar craze started.

53 years old here, wife drives a fairly stock 99 coupe and I have an 02 Z06 with a blower and some other mods. I may be getting older, but guess I will never grow up in some peoples eyes, and I am okay with that. I have loved corvettes as long as I can remember and feel very lucky to now have my dream car. I say listen to other peoples advice and experiance, but you have to do what makes you happy. As far as running rich, depending on how rich, it might just be a very safe tune running rich at low rpm. Mine runs a little rich down low, but it screems when the boost hits. lol Best advice I can give you is take it slow, get to know the car and how it handles in all types of conditions. That much power will surprise you when you least expect it. Life is short, enjoy it!
