Plan on keeping my C5Z until I can't drive it anymore. Sure, owning a new corvette with the latest technology would be nice. But I do really think the designers at GM should spend more time on these forums so they can figure out the car designs people like. I have heard many times over that people hate the rear of the C7 and I also fall into that camp.
A closing general comment is the cost of a C7. An earlier post in this thread stated that you with taxes, the out the door price for C7 is $76K... rediculous. New car prices in recent years have gone through the roof. Recently bought a new heavy duty 3500 truck and it was an astronomical $50K....for a truck. Inflation is only about 2.5, 3% a year.
Still loving and enjoying my C5. I would like to have an older vette like a 69-72 vert. in addition to the C5. Would really like 62 or a 67 but don't see that happening.
well guys, before the thread becomes a repeat of other threads with c5 vs c7 attributes, i would like to clarify my original intent of posting and that being a shout out to anybody who had a hand in the creation of the c5 and may still be visiting the forum. Yep i am biased because i fell hard in love the 1st time I saw the 97 c5 but had to wait 13 years to own one......i am with most everyone on the fact my taste will change and a c6 or c7 might one day be mine (especially if the price falls into my range) but as far as sheer design magic, the c5 will always be my choice and again, just a note to let the design/engineer guys know i love their work.....by the way, are there any still on the forum?

Evil Twin was an engineer involved in the C5 design, he's still active here.
Most of you seem to be struggling with the decision between your C5 and the new C7 . I feel fortunate that I don't have to struggle with that decision because I've hated the design of the new C7 in the coupe since first seeing it . The convertible design looks to be a winner but still not as good looking as the C5 design. Paying cash for the C7 would not be a problem , but why buy something that I don't want or need ?
You old biased guys probably said the same thing about the new C5's when cruising in your C3's!
There are some C4 guys who would love a C5, but they let their pride get in the way.
It happens with every new generation. Some cannot accept change, some people are envious, some people want the newest and baddest.
What gets me though are the ones who diss on past generations. That's nothing more than a pecker meter if you ask me and are the ones who only have the newest because they like to throw cash around.
I agree with the OP. The C7 is a stunning car, but after owning my C5, I'm still not tired of it and still get excited every time I open up my garage door.
When the 84 Corvette came out people were paying 10k above sticker and what a car that turned out to be. No way I would pay sticker for a 240 Z look a like even if I could afford to.
All I can say is I love my C5. Wife has a C6, but I prefer mine over hers any day. The C7 looks to me like a retro 240z in many ways......but that's just my opinion

HEY! That looks like mine!
As much as I'd love to own a C7, I still think the C5 front is the best vette ever. It is so low and sleek! I just love running my hands over her curves every time I go into the garage. A 427 engine would be just perfect transplanted in her and I would not have to feel inferior to C7s in power.
I'm not sold on the looks, but I didn't like the 2005 C6 either. The C6 Z06 and GS were huge improvements so I'm hoping C7s will follow suit in future editions.
