The question all of us have to ask, are we willing to pony up the $40K, $50K or $60K difference plus your C5 trade to ride the C7. Is the new Vette worth the difference?
For me, it depends on whether or not I get another Consulting contract or do I retire next year when this one is finished. Right now, I'm just enjoying the C5 I picked up last year.

I can honestly say a C7 is not even a temptation for me. I've loved the looks of a C5 Vert since the day I laid eyes on one. In a few days it will be 2 years I've been the proud owner of mine and I'm just as happy with it as the day I got it. I plan on keeping it a long time.
Design wise the C5 was extremely well conceived. Improving on it would be a serious challenge. Neither subsequent version, the C6 or the C7 has surpassed it in my opinion. So buying newer may just be a technology chase verse a better appearing car.
I am not old, but I will be adding a C6 427 vert to my collection. I can't stand the look of the C7 rear, yes I have the money for one, but I really am in disbelief at how modern the C5 still looks??
Another "old guy" here, 58. I like the C7, but I still love my C5, and I'm too cheap to spend $65k + on a car that doesn't take my breath away every time I open the garage and see it. I think that someday the C5 will be considered as revolutionary as the C2's were.
C6 owner here. I still check out a nice C5, esp a C5 Z06. Both are still contemporary and do not look outdated.
Of course C2s and early C3s earn classic status. The only model Vette that does not do it for me are late C3 and most C4. Anything new is always cool but I wouldn't mind owning a C5 Z06 someday.
I'll be 60 in dec. I'll be keeping mine. The c7 is what it is. When I have a good car I like to keep it.
I want a 40 Ford so bad I can smell the leaded gas from it!
When I was 15 my dad found one , but we never got to restoring it. I saw Wayne Carini buy a 37 and a 40 Ford for a customer at auction for about $70K each. More than I can spring for. Likely will never have another one.
I learned my lesson. Will keep what I have and enjoy it getting older.
Actually, it is seldom I can use the power of the C5 in fear of the law and traffic, so why would I want more?
Well kept older cars have a patina and an aura that can't be replaced.
69 years old here and I really do not like the C7, at all. I was going to sell my `01 vert and go for a 2008 or newer C6 vert but I changed my mind. Ordered new seat skins, halo tail lights and some other stuff and I'm going to keep it for awhile.
From the rear 3/4 view, the C7 roofline is strongly reminiscent of the 240Z.
That side shot reminds me of the new Ferrari California.
Yep ! I've been a thinkin , maybe they made it out of left over parts from the 240Z , the Camaro, the Rambler Marlin , the side quarter windows out of a Mustang, and anything else they found a bargain on.
The right step is going from a C5 to a C6 widebody like I did. Don't regret buying a 13 GS for one minute after seeing that hideous C7 rear end.

My new girl:
Sorry , but how could you not like the sleeker and lighter looking front end on the C5 ? People often see a C6 at the cruises and think they are a Viper. ( Not a compliment )
