You probably already have them, but time to heavily invest in clear vinyl for the entire rocker panel on either side, halfway up behind each wheel well, lowest section on each door, and the nose.
I have lived in areas before where i only had to deal with the rock/tar resurface method. Knowing your level of detail interest in the car's finish you will want to protect it while also accepting that it's just going to take a few marks over time.
Nice digs. Enjoy Nebraska. I hope it doesn't become a coastline any time too soon per the Edgar Cayce readings.
Congratulations on your new home Mark.
Beautiful place and setting. Enjoy making it your own. Looks like you will be busy moving in and getting things done to your liking before you can get back to modifying Grape Ape.
I guess you will have all winter for that.
Mike
Finally, after over a month, I've got Grape back on the road again. Sure did miss having him at my disposal all this time. Been way to long with both moves that happened but now hopefully I won't be moving anytime soon again. The AC still has a leak and it's driving me nuts trying to track that down. I'll need something to do over the winter so maybe I'll do that.
Anywho, here's a little walk around video and little drive around my home town Park area.
Thanks, they were powder coated. The color is candy pearl purple. I thought that color looked best with my color car.
Ok then, I’m inspired. One of the aspects I like about your car are the many small details that make the sum greater than its parts. It’s those things that you might see from 20 feet, but appreciate even more up close.
My car is silver with the polished thin spoke wheels and has stock dark gray calipers with white letters. I want to improve the look, but the red that seems so popular doesn’t work for me. So I’m thinking a glossy silver, with white/black/or no color lettering. Here’s an example that got me all frisky.
Not all crazy wow, but something that would be a nice touch of cool up close. So now I look at every caliper 😂😂😂 to see what others have dreamed up. I really appreciate the subtle, yet artful approach you took.
Consider the brake dust and road dirt. A light color will look perpetually dirty.
I powder coated the ones on my daily. I also sanded off the Corvette script. The cars have flags and emblems everywhere. I don't need the dang basic calipers to read it too. Lol. Also, by removing the digits you also no longer have cleaning woes. Just a smooth surface.
I went with red. Common. Simple. Positive blend with most colors. And in this case also the exact same powder coat as I used for my fuel rail covers and front radiator shroud which came with the supercharger.
Many colors will work. White, silver, yellow... Not so much.
Went to my parents house this evening and brought him home with me finally. He did very well on the gravel road too. Didn't scrap once, but had to be very close to touching.
I will believe that when I get use to this one. I took the wrong angle on my approach this morning. Lesson learned and I'm not going to fix this mistake until I figure it out.
Did a little plowing. Pretty sure it was at the housing development entrance.
