Went to town to deliver a lift chair I repaired to my father-in-law. The chair was given to me and was going to get thrown out. So I said I'd like to have it and see if I can fix it. It's fixed and now being used. They aren't cheap so I'm glad it's being used again. Anywho, the reason for this post is, harbor freight. Yes, I said harbor freight. I stopped in yesterday to get something and notice they had a sale on their icon stuff. I get their emails but forgot about this one. So I bought the GOLD 1/4" drive one yesterday and today while I was delivering that chair, I decided to stop in and get the GOLD 3/8" drive one too. I've always eyeballed the gold ratchets they have whenever I go in there but couldn't make myself pay the full price on them. Well, they are on sale for 40% off right now until tomorrowI think. Will I ever use them? I doubt it, but they're in the toolbox now and I can say I have them. 😉👍

Another car show last Sunday. Not sure why but around here the shows tend to be on Sundays and not Saturdays for some reason. It was a brutally hot and humid day for Nebraska too. High of 100 and no shade as it was at an airport in Lincoln on the concrete. Luckily I took my umbrella that attaches to the chair. Great show that was put on by Duncan Aviation for the Make A Wish Foundation. Great cause. Not sure how many cars they had but the highest number I saw was 139. Not bad for as warm as it was out and there was also an air show in Omaha that weekend too. Grape took 2nd in the 1990-1999 modified car category. I'll take whatever they think I deserve. Even if it's nothing. 😆
Even got to see the US Gov't 747 E-4B aircraft. It did a takeoff, then did a 360 and landed again. Opened its forward cargo bin and deployed the stairs. Had a few support peeps around the aircraft for a while and then took off again and headed south. Maybe flying over the airshow that was at Offutt Air Base that was going on in Omaha. I'm going with the reasoning of when they took off the 1st time and had to come back, that they realized biden wasn't on board because he wandered off again and had to go back and get him. 😲 😉 😆

😎👍 Yep, the upgrade kit is on order as of 30 minutes ago. I have the original ones on my workbench ready for the update. Then I hope to get some time to install them. Most likely won't until maybe end of September though.
Thanks guys. It was a fun day to be back around an airport. That's one of the main reasons I wanted to attend this one, even on a sure hot day. I almost talked myself out if it the night before.
Grape parked next to a Duck Billed Platypus! aka PC-12
AWESOME!
I can't help but ask the question with Pilatus making some of the world's drug cartels favorite and most versatile smuggling jets like the PC-24.... and the car being purple....next to a spotted purple PC-12.... is there a connection we are missing here, Mark? Are you out in Nebraska becoming a dental floss tycoon?
A week ago today I was at a car show and while sitting behind the car, I noticed the sway bar clamp on the drivers side has a lot of rust/corrosion on it compared to the passenger side. Today I finally had a chance to look at it and do something about it. From what I can gather and also looking at the sway bar, I have a slight exhaust leak that's blowing moisture on it and the clamp. I addressed the rust today on the clamp but didn't have time to look into the leak. I think I may need to get a good 2.5" clamp and see if that gets it to cinch down better. My other thought is, do I keep these clamps for the sway bar polished or do I paint them and not worry about them anymore?
At the show last week.
From previous picture.
Corrosion removed and shiny again.
Both done and back on the car. You can see the dark mark on the sway bar and cradle as well.
I have a couple, hopefully good, stainless clamps on order so I'll see if they help. Should.....I also stopped in to menards and bought some silverish paint just in case the leak doesn't stop. But I'm stubborn enough that I'll make sure the leak gets fixed one way or a welder. 😉 😆👍

nice job polishing the swaybar bushing retainers...maybe clear coat them to help prevent rust forming on them...btw...it looks like you beat the retainer with a hammer...looks dented a bit?
They are cheap to replace...just a suggestion since we both know you are the slightest bit ****...
Thanks 😎👍 I am a bit **** with things. I will see how the leak repair goes before I try the clear or paint route. I haven't touched them with anything other then the polisher from what I can recall. They are what came on the car I believe when I bought it. I'll have a closer look at them when I get time too.

Got the clamp changed out. If it works I'll change the other side too to make them the same. I got a stainless 2.5" I.D. x 2.5" O.D. step clamp with 2 bolts. We shall see how it is when the car comes out on the 15th for an all Corvette show in Lincoln. I also got the center stainless plate cleaned up as well. It had a dull spot on it too. The cradle and the sway bar cleaned up easily too.
I'm not sure how good these clamps are but I'm willing to give it a shot.
Most things are clean again.
Dull spot from something, not sure what, hope it doesn't come back anytime soon..
The new clamps look similar to the clamps I used to replace the original clamps that came with my B&B Route 66 Quad Oval exhaust on my Red 98.
Like you I noticed a slight exhaust leak and contacted B&B. This was back in 2005 when I had a Red 98 for a short while. B&B customer service was great and shipped me a new set of clamps immediately but instead I purchased a set of clamps similar to yours and they cinched down much better, problem was solved.
