Sorry to hear about the "sudden change"...just keep in mind that everything happens for a reason, and that although we can't always control what happens to us, we can ALWAYS control how we react to it.
One of my favorite sayings states, "We can never control the winds, but we can always adjust our sails."
I applaud your reaction. Keep your positive outlook, use law of attraction, and make this "sudden change" a positive thing!
james2002Z06,real sorry to hear of your recent woes.I as many others in the forum and in general have been in the same situation (always seems to happen around a holiday). My last job of 10 years as a tool and die maker/assembler in a large AMERICAN manufacturing co was unceremoniously cut short along w/ 80 others.(job went overseas).I was mad as hell for about 1 year.Eventually I decided to go back to school. It was tough! But I never gave up.Now I have a job in a better career that although at the moment is challenging (medical field).I truly believe what the old adage states " when 1 door closes another door opens up". Prosperity and jobs security right now are hard to come by.You have offered me sound advice on several issues which I have deeply appreciated.I thank you. Although you have been dealt a bad hand, you sound as though you have some great talents.Retrospect deeply about your career, then make a decision.Meanwhile try to enjoy this extra time with friends and family. When the time comes for something new remember"revenge is a dish best served cold".
(no I don't mean bodily harm) Sorry if this is so long winded but I just woke up and it struck a chord, God bless to you and your loved ones,wlean99
James, same thing happened to me a year and a half ago, I know its hard to fathom now, but believe it or not you will be better off and things will right themselves. Just take a long deep breath and concentrate on your next opportunity and don't look back, forget about sour grapes.
That really stinks, especially at this time of the year. Hopefully your stress level will drop considerably. Good luck in what ever you decide to do in the future.
Sorry to hear about it James, I used to get laid off every winter right before the holidays, for many years. Started lookin forward to it, collect unemployment, head off to Costa Rica for a few months and be back when work started pickin up, new company every year.
Now I just contract my services out to all those companies and make twice what they used to pay me hourly . At this point in life I consider myself semi retired and have lots of time to do whatever I want.
You will be fine, wishin you the very best in the common new year
Joe
This is so sad, especially at this time of year. But you speak of it with such a positive attitude, I can't imagine anything but bigger and better things in your future. All the best and Happy Holidays to you and Tina.
Good news is, like others have said, is things do happen for a reason and it could be the start of something even better!
Congratulations on the first day of the rest of your life, be safe and enjoy the Holidays with your family and friends, something tells me you will be just fine!
Merry Christmas and here's to a much better and fantastic New Year!
I too have had the pleasure of meeting James, Tina.. good people!!! All I can say Brother is KARMA is a B####!! this will come back that company 10 fold!!! You are an honest hard working man and I am confident that you will land on our fee... If you get in a pinch and need some quick cash I could use your expertise to build some cabinets, storage space in my garage... you have my cell number bro!! As It says in scripture..
"where one door closes, another opens up"... Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to ya!
Typical story for scumbag employers to do this right before Christmas. There is no such thing as loyalty to employees. I have absolutely no loyalty to my employer. I would leave their *** with no hesitation if something better came along, and I like them and get along with them. Best of luck to you OP.
got my layoff notice thursday , funny thing is they want me to train my replacements from the other dept thats kicking me out , meeting with finacial dude monday, thinkng of telling them forget you !!! and enjoy some time off ,
After 16 years of employment with the company that I helped start ....I was laid off yesterday .... Funny thing happened while sitting in this meeting , I guess that they thought I would be upset with their move in their new direction , when asked if I had anything to say ., I said no not really since being here I've bought and paid off a house but most of I bought and paid for the car of my dreams ... You two have a great day !
And Merry Christmas to you and your families ....
Sorry to hear sir, BEST of luck to you & Merry Christmas!!! You will be fine, as you have a great outlook on things!!
These things are never pleasant. Unfortunately, many employers take such personnel actions during the holiday season, oblivious to (or worse, uncaring about) the special stress that actions taken during this special time of year can cause.
Happened to my uncle a few years back. He had worked himself up from being a master machinist to manager of a Dresser Industries drill bits/drilling tools plant.
He viewed the termination as an opportunity...bought a lathe and related tools and set up a little machine shop in his garage, making artisan-level trim pieces for Dallas' high-end custom homebuilders. Ended up with more business than he could handle (including over $75,000 to make door hinges, *****, cabinet pulls, etc for Jerry Jones' Highland Park mansion) and at outrageous profit margins.
If your gig is in wood, be sure to look into the high-end cabinet-builders in the Joe Pool Lake area north-east of Denton. They, too, are true artisans and are always on the lookout for truly skilled people (and for partners). They seem to have more work than they can handle (which keeps them in hay for their quarterhorse farms), yet still have time to yank hogs out of Joe Pool.
Have a truly warm Christmas season. All of us are rooting for you.
