No need to .. You can see the HUD just fine on a regular windshield

HUD install was a success. I just need to research the air bag light bulb. There's a variation between the 98 and the 02 cluster. PaceThis (Josh) did an amazing job. It took longer than we thought bc my dash wasn't pre marked for cuts from the factory whereas most are. All in all I love it.

Spent all day yesterday cleaning the car. Wash, wax, leather conditioning, etc. Put in a new set of Lloyd's mats. These things are nice

The short throw shifter I had I removed. For the time being I bought an oem shifter that had been cut down 1.5" and threaded. I like it.

Mine was the same (airbag light) I believe they all are. You need to pull the cluster back out and pull the bulb from where the airbag light is now and put it into the same postion it is on tne 98 cluster. That's weird that your dash wasn't marked. So glad mine was marked. That must have been a real PITA to get it in the right spot. Did it at least have the holes under the dash so you would know where the trim plate is supposed to go?

Nope. Josh had to measure it all. He had to drill a hole for the projector leg bc that wasn't there either.

Do you remember where the bulb goes for the airbag light in a 98 cluster? I haven't been able to find it yet. I don't wanna crack open the dash again until I know for sure.

Little stuff like letter for the front fascia/airbag, a console cover, I want to get that mail order tune.

I also prefer the look of the sport seats. I've been trying locally to find someone who's selling their vette and offering to trade my seats to them plus cash. It's a win for them bc mine are in great shape and it shouldn't affect their sale. In the meantime I'm going to add some foam padding to mine as insurance/extra protection.

Goodness, and I was nervous that mine wouldn't line up right and I had cut lines. I was actually shocked that it is right on the money. Not to shabby GM for getting it right on a car that didn't have HUD for an option yet.

Funny thing is I have to yank mine back out and do the same thing as you . I saw that you sold yours but I do still have my old cluster so I will look at it tonight and try to get a pic for you/us. I just got it all back together over the weekend so wanted to drive it for a bit before ripping the cluster back out again. Also I ordered some of the aluminum gauge surrounds which I just got UPS notification that they are in at my box so going to rip my cluster out tonight.

Yes! If you could get pics that'd be great! Lots of them.

Also do a tutorial on the bezel/cluster upgrade. I'm ordering a set too so I'll wait to do mine until the kit comes in. Thanks!

Found this while sitting in traffic on the way home. It shows exactly where we need to move the bulb

I bought my console cover, shift boot, and e-brake boot from Redline Goods. Very nice products and reasonable turnaround time.

There is also a console cover that has the C5 logo on it. I had one of those for a while but it didn't match my shifter and e-brake boots. How soon are you wanting to get the console cover? Mine is in like-new shape; willing to sell but unfortunately it is in my attic...which is blocked by my vette...until I finish putting it back together...

This is the one I had previously: http://www.westcoastcorvette.com/p-2...04-c5-z06.aspx

The one I bought from WCC is black with red trim. $89.95 new. I'd probably sell mine for around $50.00...but not sure when I will have access to my attic again.

I have a 2001 same color and interior as yours. I painted the front license plate cover instead of the tape on letters. Will paint the back now that I see how good the back looks on yours. I am more of a stock guy but I am interested in seeing what you do to yours. Good luck and enjoy

Where did you get the black out kit and did you do it yourself. Does it completely black out the back glass?

I went with these made from Vision Motorworks these were the cheapest ones I found and pretty happy with them. They are plastic with an aluminum look to them and go on with thin strips of double sided tape.

Well my man, that air bag bulb replacement was not the simplest thing in the world. I found no info or instructions on doing it anywhere. I did tackle the job this morning before work (since my A.D.D. kicked in while making coffee) and although it is pretty straight forward you do end up having to (of course) pull the cluster again but also pretty much disassemble the cluster as well. I will post a thread as to what I did and then give you the link.
