BTW the trim rings were super simple to install while the cluster is out. I do kinda wish I had thought ahead and ordered the LED replacement bulbs for the DIC and dimmer/HUD switches :-( I am really tempted to order but god I hate waiting and having my car ripped apart. I wish there was someplace local i could get them. Oh well.... something you might want to consider and just do it all at once if you have any interest in the them.

My trim ring install

Is the bulb thing to replace ones that are out or a mod to upgrade? Got a link with info? I might do that too while mine is out

Awesome write up. I like the idea of double sided tape vs glue

I thought the tape might be a pain and thought about putting a little epoxy on instead. But the tape turned out to be really easy

does the cluster come out without taking the entire dash apart?

I'm going to do the HUD eventually but the trim rings and leds look nice for now .. and I need to find out if my cluster is hud compatible or not since mines a 99

I put mine back in last night and forgot to plug the DIC and dimmer plugs all the way in.... uhhhhh DUH! i did manage to get the cluster out and back in without taking the dash all the way off. I did unscrew the whole thing on the drivers side though. After that I was able to wiggle it out and back in again. Not fun but not a huge deal. might have been easier if i pulled the two bolts out of the column to drop it a little but I didn't. I ordered my LEDs last night and so will be yanking it back out again in a few days. on the bright side I am getting kinda good at taking it apart and putting it back together

BTW the trim rings pick up the glow of the black lights and kinda have a really cool glow to them at night.
