That having been said, I've never encountered such cheap lousy wires as the C5 OEM wires. Period. Junk would be a kind descriptor. Are these Red GMPP wires likely much better? Yes. Would I still go there on any of our cars? No.

Just as you decided to lecture on the obvious responsibilities of engine related car care, I was also taught a few things in my racing youth, one of which was, "Never go cheap on plugs, wires, or filters." Penny-wise, pound foolish.
But still those who are considered the leading experts on this site on all things C5 still say they are the best. I wonder why?

I'm getting ready to replace plugs and wires on `03.

I bought the GMPP red wires and NGK TR5 plugs.

Anyone:
Opinions on OEM Iridium plugs vs. NGKs?

Did you get the TR55IX? or just coppers? both will work fine the Irridiums will last longer. alot of guys run copper plugs on here and just change them every couple years. I like NGK plugs, good quality.

OP saw this post kind of late, this is what I use:

http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1997-2012.html

I've run these "Livewires" since I did long tube headers in my car back in 05, NEVER had an issue, good quality item. However, looks like based on the feedback here, you got a good product as well.

TR5. Yeah, I like NGK plugs, too.

I just pulled my old plugs (ACDelco 12563707) and checked the gaps.

It doesn't look like they've ever been changed. (10 years old ) They were all between .075 and .080. They all had a nice tan color, however.

Three of the eight wires disintegrated during removal. So, replacing the old wires and plugs should make it idle and run, real nice.

First, I never said others should avoid them. I'm just saying I won't use them for a variety of reasons. For the money they are, as I indicated earlier, probably a good choice for many folks, especially those with stock engines. Since I have I uncoated headers, I opted for a heavier duty wire.

Also, while I've seen many respected folks say they are a good price/performance value, I've never seen anyone claim they are the best set of wires made. Some folks like/dislike MSD wires, Taylor wires and others as well. I don't think any wires are truly "the best."
