The interior in these things are the worst..Comparable to A Yugo..Chevy took minimalistic to a whole new level..I love the outside looks of mine, other than the 4x4 stance..I've already switched over to sport seats and that helped the look a little...what other products are out there to make it look like a sports car?
Quit whinng about 17 year old interiors and spend a little to upgrade it. There is NO reason to stay in it, so just change it to the level of finish you want. Personally I've ordered new stuff for mine to increase the finish from cheap GM vinyl to better materials. Dont use any excuse to stay with your old crap and go for the look YOU want!
Instead, I'm grateful they cut some corners on the interior so the "masses" could afford these great cars more so that I'd have a nice used car available to purchase within MY budget!!
Personally, I like my two-tone interior and and have seen worse quality in the past on cars. Fix it up how you like it....lots of stuff available.
Granted, some of the materials GM used were a little light on quality in exchange for reducing weight, however I love the design of the C5 interior. Compared to today's cars, the simplistic design and lack of uber electronics make it a true driver's car!
If you plan to keep your C5, like I do, invest a little money into the interior and it will give you a whole new perspective. I installed some sound deadening material and then installed new leather trim and a completely new stereo system including a double din NAV head unit. I swapped out most of the halogen bulbs to LED as well.
I like "go fast" mods as much as the next guy, but I get to enjoy my interior every time I drive the car. Even when I'm in bumper-to-bumper traffic and driving 15 MPH.
Nice MSG C5..I plan on same seat cover and color scheme..plus the double din console..did you get covers from vette essentials and how much?..thanks scott
I guess after only owning Chevy and Fords most of my life, I thought the seats and interior were pretty good. Took over a 3K trip in it last year and never sore or tired when I got out of it. I have loved the way the seats fit and support me. Always makes me wonder what I have been missing with all the complaining on the seats or I just have low expectations.

I got the leather from Vette Essentials. It wasn't cheap, but neither is the product. They list their prices on their website.
Dennis @ DD Mods provided the double din console and head unit.

After all, it's not an exotic....it's a Chevy.
Many forget that the C5 is a very affordable performance car and not a high priced exotic. If you don't like the quality of the interior, do what many of us have done and upgrade/personalize it through products from many of our fine vendors here on the forum.

And the more cars they sold, the more aftermarket venders take notice and produce more upgrades for us!

Have to agree that the materials may be where GM skimped on the interior but the design is classic and with the right upgrades the interior can compete with current "sports cars" much more expensive. I have had all my panels leather wrapped by Dennis (who can add photos of his offerings) and then upgraded audio components as well. I have a set of Corbeau A4 seats wrapped in matching leather to boot. All are in the process of install and sound insulation also. So you have a number of options other than just living with it.
