The thing is this. Auto, manual; doesn't matter what others think. Everybody has opinions on this, and none are wrong. (Well, kind of....)
I love my auto A4. Wouldn't trade anyone.
But it only matters what you want. You can find 'exactly' the car you want, if you are patient, and look long enough. They are out there, but maybe not in your neighborhood, or even in your home city or state.
Many of us flew or drove long distances, to get 'the one' we wanted. I flew over 900 miles, after months of searching, for my C5. Never regretted it once.
So if you think to settle, realize that 'your C5' is out there, somewhere.
I'd say patience is needed, till you find it. The exact one!!!
Another curiosity Q is the new C7 Z06 optioned with 8-speed automatic. That does not compute for me. What's the point? Your welcome to disagree.
In my C5 it's manual for me without even a thought. In the C7, I would still choose manual but it is now a consideration. The paddle shift automatic is so much fun in a C7. The reason I wouldn't seriously consider it is because the 8 speed requires too much shifting when you want to grab a gear and go. A 6 speed and I would consider it.
I thought about a 6 speed, but went with the A4. I wouldn't call it a deal killer, but with this Vette, I preferred an automatic.
Now, if I ever go C6, it will almost certainly be an A-6, that's an easy call.
BTW, my first Vette had to be a 4 speed manual and nothing else. Guess the years changed my preference.
