White is one of the best colors to have on any car in hot, humid climates. When I lived in Greenville, NC, the paint on three metallic colored cars we owned (silver, blue & burgundy) was damaged by the sun and humidity native to that area. But the one white car we had never showed the same problems. White can be neglected but responds well to a good compounding.
One of my fav Vettes is a white C-4 Vert with a white hat and white interior, preferably with LT-1. Something about the C-4 that lends itself to white.

I think the main reason that white Corvette sales were particularly low in 2003 was because the Anniversary Edition cars that year (in Anniversary Metallic Red) were so popular (65% of total sales) that it reduced the sales of all other colors......including white. On average white C5s were about 6% of sales for all other years (which is still very low)

White, being a very light color, is actually a good color to "hide" being dirty. A white car can be dirty and not look it. But it is true that even with concerted effort it is difficult to make white "shine" like darker colors.

Have to agree, that is a very cool combination. Pewter Metallic with Torch Red interior is also a wonderful combo. As is Torch Red with Torch Red interior......and Black with Torch Red interior is also awesome. Torch Red compliments several exterior colors.

White is a very popular color for cars in general, in fact I think it is overall the 2nd most popular color for all cars and trucks, silver being the most popular color overall for all cars and trucks. But for C5 Corvettes it does not rank as one of the most popular colors, in fact it ranks as the most unpopular color. This may be because while people like white cars in general, people do not like white for a sports car. I think this also applies to Ferrari's, Jaguars, Aston Martins, Lamborghinis, etc, etc.

I guess mine is kinda rare then...
Guess I haven't been reading the same threads as you. I've been on here for a long time and have seen very little said about white being unpopular. In fact, quite the opposite. Here's a thread I started about a year ago and the comments from the guys were all positive. Even guys with different models and colors made positive comments. Check out this thread....

White is very nice. Darker colors seem to "POP" a bit more when polished and as everyone knows, "RED ONES ARE FASTER"!!!

Love my white vette. You would be surprised at how dirty, nasty, and overall gross she can be and still look clean from a distance.

Of the two times I've seen someone else driving my car, it's immediately grabbed my attention.

Actually a very rare corvette that will be worth money in the future is a 2001 C5 Z06 white with red and black interior. My supervisor has one and i looked them up and found out there were only like 122 of them built. I told him to hold on to it for a while.

My white 01 vert. gets unbelievable attention. It never looks dirty even when I have neglected it. My top is black and my interior is a combination of black and light oak.My 4runner is white, my truck is white, and I even have a utility trailer that is white. You might say ,I believe white is right. All vettes are beautiful no matter what color.

I prefer white for a car or pick-up color, but a sports car has to be red!!!

I don't care if someone else likes the color of my car or not. I like it, and that's all that counts.

I don't generally prefer white since I think it can look a little plain and hide body features. I generally like the metallic colors.

However I do not hate white and had a white '94.
