I can go either way I did the sound deadening and made a big difference so if I want to listen to my Awesome sound system I keep the windows up but if I just want to here the sound of the Loud exhaust put the windows down and leave off the music. I have a partition but I don't bother to put it in.
I have run my 04 Z06 with the divider and now due to the roll cage without the divider and there is a definite reduction in noise with the divider in place , also the sound from the speakers is better and the AC seems to work better with the divider , I run stock Z06 exhaust and there is some attenuation of the exhaust noise but I really notice a reduction in road noise off the rear tires at speed , I am going to cut the stock divider to fit around the roll cage supports and put it back in place asap , good luck
Not a big fan of partitions so I never got one but I can share the following:
1) Sound Deadening: I think sound deadening can make a pretty noticeable difference but it has to be done right: Here is a summary...
A) Seats and interior carpeting completely removed
B) A layer of vibrational dampner followed by a sound insulator layer. The thicker the sound insulator, the better but too thick makes it difficult to put back carpeting and all panel & trim pieces.
C) Needs to be applied everywhere, including doors. Bulkhead is particularly important.
2) Tires will make a difference to interior cabin noise. I have Hankook Ventu V12's and they seem to keep the noise down.
2020 Corvette of the Year Finalist (performance mods)
C5 of Year Winner (performance mods) 2019
I've had my partition out a few times and really didn't notice any difference in sound... I leave it in though because I like how it gives the cabin a sealed off look from the trunk area
i'm waiting for my pre cut kit to come in I do plan on taking every thing out of the car and installing it doing my best to seal every thing
I guess i'm sold on the divider if any one of you have one your not using let me know?
Hey Stroker, Save yourself some money and sound deaden the car first before you bye a partition maybe you will be happy just by doing that first. Don't forget to do the two layers for the heat also.

You make good points....but, maybe should've bought a base vette? There's no sound deadening/insualtion to keep the weight down as much as possible - also, hearing the "mechanical sounds" of the drivetrain/suspension as well as the exhaust note is part of the "racecar for the street" appeal of the Z. The tires you mention are quiet because they're more GT car tires than real performance tires - I ran them twice on my bolted G8 GT and that car would overcome them w/ ease - horrific straight line traction, but good in cornering.
I'm not hating on your efforts, but I question why anyone would go to such lengths to "quiet and soften" the Z06 when the factory took great lengths to do the opposite lol!
I'm getting the partition and tray to help organize the cabin so I can store stuff and keep crap from flying around

well for one it just to loud for me, 5lbs is not going to kill performance so adding the sound deadening to me is not that big of a deal
I dont mind when i'm a lone in the car but when i'm with my wife or have a friend I dont want to have to scream to have a conversation, sure I love to hear the exhaust rumble and the engine scream when i'm driving aggressive but this is a daily driver not just a special occasion or weekend worrier if it was I probably would not bother me much but since i'm in it every day it gets annoying on the expressway @ 75mph trying to talk to the passenger or needing something for a headache after a 150 mile drive , dont get me wrong i'm not looking to make it dead silent just a bit quieter
I would not recommend the foam partition. I originally ordered one and it's difficult to make it fit 100% all around. Some areas might be pushed in more than others, etc. Then if you put anything in the trunk that moves against it then it moves all around and makes the foam deform.
I ended up buying one of the heavy ones with the wood/fabric and shelf, etc. It's definitely heavy buy well more worth it in IMO. Came with Velcro to hold it up, etc. Definitely made the car more quite.

I can put some answers to your inquiry although you may not agree with my answers but that's okay... we all have different pursuits but certainly share in common the fondness and admiration for the C5Z.
1) No offense to coupe (base) owners but I have not tremendously liked the look of the hatchback coup. I like the FRC body style dramatically more. So from an aesthetic standpoint, I like the Z06 body style.
2) Yes, I easily added over 200 lbs to the weight of my car. However, I also added an A&A blower setup, high flow intake and exhaust, plus a few other things that have more than made up for performance degradation due to added weight.
3) Tire choice - well, I don't track my car and likely never will. Occasional spirited driving on a freeway on ramp is enough for me.

All you needed to say is "it's blown" hahaha- def not softening it up
