Apparently you've never driven a car with a hole that size in its muffler and experienced the extreme amount of unwanted attention that level of noise attracts.

Then again, I'm guessing that "unwanted attention" isn't really a familiar concept to you.

Whats with the rude response man ?

The cutouts reffered to in this thread have holes the size of tennis ***** , so why the **** would a tiny thumb nail hole be some sort of huge problem?

honestly bro, it would probably sound like crap.. idk if you have stock exhaust or not, but if ya do, the "motorboat" sound from the stock h-pipe would sound terrible with the raspy dirty sound of an exhaust leak (which is what you would have with holes drilled).. and I assure you I'm not an advocate of a "quiet exhaust system".. i've got long tubes, an offroad X, and borla straights on my c5

Qtp's here, so far so good. Went with them over the Dmh due to cs reasons. Been reading that many have to wait weeks/months for them.
My car being turbo helps muffle the sound quite a bit, picked up some decent power aswel.

This isn't one of those things you do to "get by." Just the fact that you think this would be a good idea shows that you have no idea what you're really suggesting.

What part of "you've never driven a car with a hole in the muffler" did you not understand?
Like I said before, cutouts are mostly about attracting attention and/or annoying people...the difference in your case is that you won't even be able to shut them off. Apparently you don't buy into the "polite Canadian" stereotype either.

So I've had the cutouts on the car for about 2 months and I like them. My car is supercharged making close to 1k hp so it was really quiet running the stock TI exhaust. I put the cutouts on for noise I didn't really expect much power out of them because theres not much room to optimize them. The cutouts when open sound amazing!!! With that said its freaking loud... like really loud but the nice part about them is you can open them as little or as much as you like. When mine are open their opened. But on the highway it nice being able to hear your music

Yea you could be right , and if they do sound like crap ill just have them welded back up , easy fix

what im suggesting is the exact same thing everyone else is doing with these cut outs, except mine would be permanent and not be able to be turned off.

So if you are going to rag on me for having a hole in my exhaust , please do the right thing and rag on everyone else here in this thread whos doing the same.

I've repeatedly said I thought they were a dumb idea in general.
But you're the only one here suggesting that it's a good idea to drive around with them open all the freakin' time, so you get your very own extra-large dose of contempt...deal with it.

Again I am at a loss as to why you are responding with all the thick attitude, I didn't say im going to sneak into your garage and cut a hole in YOUR exhaust, im doing it to mine, so why that angers you ,,, is something you might want to ask your therapist about.

With regards to your opinion about the cut outs,,fair enough , ive also never been a big fan of these cut outs, and on the other forums im in most people feel the same.

The only part you might be missing is that im going with a MUCH smaller cut out, so its not going to be nearly as loud as the others, I just wanna add a little punch to the mild sounding stock exhaust, at least until I pick up a new exhaust set up.

What? You don't have neighbors? Or are you trying to get back at them because they laughed at the wheels on your Lexus?

Translation: "I'm not a big fan of cut-outs, and most people agree with me, but for some reason I feel like I have to do some half-assed billy-bob mod just because (I think) I can." That about sum it up?

I didn't miss that. What you seem to be missing is the complete lack of knowledge about how loud a small hole in a muffler/exhaust can be. Not to mention a complete state of denial of the fact that, however loud it sounds to you, it will sound a hell of a lot louder to somebody outside the car. Or maybe you just don't give a rip.

Cutting a hole in an exhaust is a bad idea. Have you ever heard of carbon monoxide poisoning?

I've been on the fence trying to decide whether to install these on my 92 that has a nicely cammed 383 stroker. Well, thanks to you and your video, it looks like I'll be spending some money and doing some welding. Oh, did I mention making some noise!!!

It's that inability to close the hole that makes your "suggestion" NOT the same thing everyone else is doing. The fact that you actually think it's a good idea clearly demonstrates the fact that you have no idea of the consequences of your "suggestion."

Everyone else is installing the means to close off the open hole. You are not, which is why you are getting "ragged on" and others aren't.

I also bought my DMH Low profile cutouts over 3 years ago and have enjoyed how my vette sounds. Recently one of my gear boxes stop working on my cutouts and I am still under the 4 year warranty. I have emailed Dave many many times over a period of 8 months and no response. I tried calling his business but unable to leave a message on his answering machine. Finally Dave responded by email saying when he receives new gear boxes he will send me one. Never heard from him at all after that. I have emailed Dave this past Thanksgivings hoping the holidays will soften him up to send me the gear box. To no avail, no response. I even offered to pay for the gear box eventhough its under warranty and no response.

Yes, Dave makes a quality product no doubt and I still like how my one cutout is working but sad that he has no integrity on honoring his 4year warranty. Maybe others got lucky but my experience for whatever reasons Dave sucks on customer service. I very sorry I even have to say that on our forum.

Seems like you are not alone on this. For this reason alone I will be buying QTP.

HAHAHA I knew it , all it took was for me to poke you with a stick a few times to see your true colors.

You are one of those lil sheep followers from the other thread, haha,,, still mad huh ?

Good I love it

The ability to close the hole and open it when you want to me seems weird, its very poser-ish to want to be able to have a loud car when u feel its time to be "cool"

Youre driving down the road, you see a group of guys standing on the corner, and your like " oh yea heres my chance, lemme open my cut out to impress these guys " vroom vroom look and listen to meeeeeee.

As for me I just want a louder, better sounding exhaust, to match the theme of my car, a mean sound to add to the mean looks , and it will be on 24 hours a day , regardless of whos around.

I also remember you now, from the other thread, you guys should really leave whatever disagreement we had there, over there, if you want to start jumping on me everytime I post I got no problem , ill be here to respond everytime.

I disagree with you here, The reason I installed them was to unleash HP that i thought my exhaust was robbing but in my case it was only 4wrhp another reason is is I pull up to a nice place for dinner or what ever and dont want to draw attention I can closed them and blend in. coming home late not wanting the attention of the cops is one to.

the only reason i dont like the idea of the whole is because the exhaust will only sound like a bad muffler and not like a performance exhaust should, drone even though I like a "little" with the whole it probably will be to much for my liking. your better off doing the "by pass" mod to your exhaust IMO.

i'm not picking on your or any thing just telling you how i feel about it.

I love all the haters that get on threads that doesn't concern them. If you don't like cutouts don't come on the thread it's that simple. Poser-ish you say I don't think so. Make no mistake my car is loud with or without the exhaust opened up. The YSi blower and tial bov makes sure of that. I for one will never tell someone else what they should or shouldn't do to their own car because it's stupid. If you're concerned with cutouts that's fine but if you're here to tell people that they are uncool for wanting to do what they like to their car go away.
