I'm glad the OP is backing away from this. Something I'd like to bring up that I did not see discussed much, who in Kazakhstan has body shop experience working on a Vette? Let's face it, even in the US where these cars are plentiful damaged Vettes usually land up at a specialty shop that devotes a good portion of their work to Vettes. I know they have body shops in Kazakhstan and I'm sure they are good shops, but someone with the experience to restore that damaged Corvette? Something else to consider.
You might want to find a complete frame assembly and use your engine, interior and good body panels. The complete (undamaged) frame assemblies are easy to find over here.
it is actually the pain in the *** if i change the frame, because i have to change the documents also.. this is not the solution)) i was thinking just to get complete corvette and replace the frame number.. it can be done. but if the police will find out they can sue me
$13K for this wrecked C5 coupe is nuts. But I understand. Too bad it's not a FRC.
Go to page 2 or 3 and find the post with 3 parts sources listed at the bottom of a post. Click each and see their catalog for parts illustration & parts #'s. Very good discounted prices but shipping is going to hurt, big time. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1249213
Sorry you're able to get so close.....and not realize your dream.....hope that someday your able to own a corvette.....we (americans) take a lot of things for granted like, owning a or sometimes multiple corvettes........ We use it and throw it away or replace it..... I have worked in one of the poorest cities in the world and replacing anything wasn't an option....if you lost it or broke it you were just out of luck............so, I get it. best wishes.
i hope to someday i will get closer to corvette) if i give up on this one i will wait and look for another one... maybe if i dont find good c6, i will go for c6. Thank your buddy

pitty to say. there is no speciality corvette workshop. there are workshops that specialize in USA made cars. Most of the jeep grand cheroqee srt8 and charger and mustang. In our country maybe we have approximately 10 corvettes overall. but we have a lot of good workshops that can work on any metal.

The good news is that the Corvette is made with many stock GM parts, including the engine. The bad news is that the body panels are fiberglass, which a metal shop might not be equipped to repair.
I know what you feel I remember when I was so desperate for a c5 but finally I understood that everything comes step by step no rush 13k its to much money in that condition negotiate the prize maybe 8k because the kms on it keep looking don't feel bad if you let go this vette it looks very damaged vettes are everywhere although in your country is not so easy to find one,,,good luck man
You say that you can't import a car older than 2008. You might be able to find a high-mileage 2008 for something close to your budget. Can you import a 2008? Would there be high duties associated with such an import? Shipping, transit insurance and duties may be another matter. If those costs are manageable, that's what I'd do. You can also pay a very modest fee to an inspection service that will go and inspect your car. I did that and it helped steer me away from some bad choices. You can also get opinions here regarding possible purchases if you have specific concerns. You can get a pretty good idea of appropriate prices by checking the NADA website. If you need some help dealing with a particular seller you might find folks on this site willing to help you out with the logistics.
Much as I love my C5, the C6 is a superior car in many ways. You'd love it. Best of luck.
I just remembered another consideration with this car. Not all C5 's are the same, and if the crashed car is a 1999 , the steering position sensor is no longer available new, and it looks like you might need one. Significant changes were made in 2001, I would want you to check this information. Parts availability could be a reason why pros passed on the car and it has been sitting for years. Or it could be the labor was a profit killer, and that is the reason it is available to you, not the parts situation.
I wouldn't worry about the body repair, everything is the same to replace bodywork. Only the material is different, I think the correct name is continually molded styrene, CMS, it is not fiberglass in any way.
Let me tell you the parts for this car going to make you crap yourself.
If you can't find a donor car or used parts your in trouble.
Hood $ 900
Inner fender wells $450 a piece
Fenders $ 300 a piece there are so many parts you need I'm telling you without a donor car you will have $ over $15k in parts.
Corvette parts thru a dealer are insane.

We can import any car which emission standard Euro 4 and above. So if the car is euro 4 then it is safe to import. but another issue is high import tax. when i was looking for mustang 3.7 which price in Dubai 18k USD for year 2012. with all the custom clearences this car would cost me 39k USD.) Imagine if i import the corvette 5.7 liter what it would cost me))

Yes i think if i order from the dealer it will cost me a lot.. better to find some rear end wrecked corvette.. would be easier and cheaper.
Look what i found in the internet.. From my view not considering the frame damage i have to only replace the suspension.. i was thinking what if the dent on the frame doesnt affect anyhow to the handling and to the safety why not to go for this car? i was scared mostly because of suspension and frame. the suspension part looks to me fine. need to find absorber and etc. but not to many parts.
