If a battery is not charged after 48 hours, I think you should go ahead and replace it at this point. It just might be junk. To anyone who is riding around with a column lock bypass kit in their trunk and hasn't installed it, why not? Installing it in an inopportune moment is going to be a royal PITA. And getting stuck with a locked steering wheel really sucks. When I first got my '03, my wife and I did a lot of traveling in the first 17,000 miles with the car. One day I was washing my car in my driveway and when I went to drive back into the garage the column stayed locked up. I had moved the car while washing and it was no longer aimed correctly into the garage. With some clever maneuvering and my wife's guidance I was able to get it back inside with maybe a hair of clearance from the garage wall. There have been a lot worse stories over the years from other people. I don't know how the LMC kit is installed, but with other brands of CLB's the steering must be unlocked prior to the installation. So you might have to unlock it first before you can install your repair. It makes no sense to me why someone would buy the part and not put it in. And to the person who'll just get his car towed when it locks, I hope your wheels are straight and you don't have any cars in front and behind you so the flatbed can get your car up.
