The Corvette compensates for most of my insecurities pretty well. Hope it lasts so I don't have to go shopping for a watch. [Flame suit on ]
You and me both..... I was content to just eye a Rolex at the Rolex dealers glass counter and just hope that maybe I'd win a lotto or something. BUT the girlfriend must have got tired of me eyeballing them and just broke down and gifted me this one. It's used and I spent a couple days getting it serviced and appraised at the Rolex dealer. The dealer has offered to buy it cause it's a vintage model worth more than my car......not, but close enough. I refused their offer.
That watch is now on tour with 24/7 armed security when it's in the public domain. LOL!
Unfortunately you can get killed for wearing a rolex. It happened in L.A. where I was living several years ago.
I had a friend that was killed for 5 dollars...19 years old,, 6'5 310 lbs..no fat....... he was working at a gas station .. and was robbed for 5 dollars.. the two brothers who shot him were caught, the reason for shooting my friend they said to the detectives... " because he was so big and they were afraid of Him ".
I had a neighbor killed for his New Cadillac..in a car jacking...he left two young sons and a wife... One of the nicest guys in the world..
You can be killed for just being in the wrong place...
I have been involved in a car jacking, and a street robbery... I came out on top both times.
WE live in a dangerous world... being knowledgeable of that fact and practicing surroundings awareness.. and personal defense for 50 years, gives me the confidence to walk where I want and carry what I want,, be it 10K worth of camera equipment in the woods, or a 10 K watch.... The one thing I don't have, is a tattoo on my forehead that says " potential victim ". or " unarmed old guy "
